GM is still here because the political slush fund called "the Stimulus" was used to bail the company out from total collapse under the pension, wage and benefits ball and chain of its rapacious, bottomlessly greedy unions and union members.

Which conveniently ignores a stagnant and bloated managerial sector, as well as a general failure to innovate and create a competitive product.
