MIA Dance Contests - the good 'ol days

Post by _zeezrom »

I was looking at the photo archives of the Utah State Historical Society, and found this:

Image

It is a photo of the winners from a dance contest in the Salt Lake City 20th ward MIA youth group. I'm guessing the photo was taken in the late 1920's.

Are LDS youth group dance contests a thing of the past? I suppose *any* dance contests for youth might be a thing of the past. Too bad for us.

You know how the church has recently been changing youth programs to become more "spiritual" in nature? Do you think this is also going to take away from the fun in youth programs? Will it cause photos like the one above to become even more foreign to today's typical Mormon youth?

A ward orchestra?! Oh my hell! What has happened to you, LDS?
