Utah #1 in depression & #7 in suicides ....

Post by _Rollo Tomasi »

Sorry if this has already been reported here, but below is a link to a poll in the USA Today showing that Utah's citizens are #1 for depression and #7 for suicide.

http://www.usatoday.com/news/health/200 ... bers_N.htm

EDITED TO ADD: I just realized this is an old survey -- from 2007 -- does anyone know if it has gotten any better for Utah?

The priesthood brothers are still depressed because their wives are uptight, but suicides are down due to increased access to porn.

For depression, I saw something on Health.com that said Arkansas rated #1. Utah didn't break the top 10.

The state of ex and anti mos in Utah doesn't seem to be very good. Time to get back on a road to somewhere. See you in Church tomorrow.....

Isn't it curious how in A Marvelous Work and a Wonder, Elder LeGrand Richards attributes all the positive statistics from Utah to its large LDS population?

But then any negative statistics from Utah are because of the non-LDS populace?

Demographics are just the funniest thing sometimes.........

Actually BC, my experience was quite the contrary. Since leaving the church my depression has gone away. I am happy and enjoy life and have an improved outlook on life. I have been out for 7 years or so and feel like a million bucks. I think the church has has too many unreachable expectations followed up with doctrines that force its members into states of cog dis and circular logic. Its a formula for madness. Don't get me wrong. There is nothing bad about holding people to high expectations and all, it's just difficult when those expectations contradict themselves or are out of reach and unobtainable.

I recall when a google report came out that UT has the highest amount of online porn subscriptions in the US, the apologetic spin was that there are more non-members who have migrated to UT in recent years which could be the reason for the spike. Yeah right. More non members in UT than any other state in the US? I doubt it. Yeah all the porn subsriptions that put UT on the map as consuming the most porn in the US was due to an influx of non-members. Yeah that's the ticket. Pour me another glass of kool-aid and tell me the story about how Jesus really drank grape juice and not wine at the Last Supper.

It also tells me that Utahns are too stupid to figure out how to get free porn online like everyone else!

Lets put it this way: It is hard to find a porn shop in utah. That being the case, those who are interested in porn do go to the internet for porn subscriptions. However, in many states it is not that difficult to locate a shop that sells porn dvds etc. Also, I am sure that there are nonmembers hitting the porn sites on the internet. I just don't think that members would risk a constant credit card charge every month. The wife would definitely ask for more details about such a charge.

Virus risk could be a problem. With paid porn from a reputable site, the risk of a virus is almost zero.
