Yes. They can and do read PMs there. I'm pretty sure there is a place on the forum where they say that they do this. I believe
liz3564 also had the moderators going through her PMs when she was a moderator there.
Like I said, vile forum run by vile people who have no respect for privacy.
You are correct. They do randomly go through PMs.
I was actually a Mod on MAD. They had a very hush hush policy on the identification of who the Mods were. Unlike here, where everyone knows who the Mods are, the Mods on MAD have separate log-ins and sign-ons.
I was very good friends with WhoKnows, who no longer posts on either Shades' board or MAD at this point. I had put my knee out, and was on some pretty high doses of medication. I accidentally referred to DanG in an off-handed way in one of my PMs to Who Knows. I immediately corrected the situation, and told him not to say anything to anyone, which he never did. DanG was going through my PMs, and deduced that I had revealed ALL of the Mods IDs, based on that one reference in my PM to WhoKnows.
First, it was outrageous that he was going through my PMs to begin with, and I never understood why he was doing that.
Second, he only got a portion of the conversation because I was also communicating with WhoKnows through email.
I never revealed the names of any of the Mods. Scratch can attest to that. He bugged me for several months straight to reveal them, and I refused.Juliann came after me on a rampage, and refused to even listen to my side of the story. She even stated publicly that I stole java code for a programming script that I gave DanG. This was also untrue. I gave him open source code which is perfectly legal, and web designers routinely do. I was very upset about her allegation, because that was something that affects my business as a contract web designer.
When I attempted to send Dan G a PM to further explain my side of the situation since Juliann refused to listen, he had the gall to ban my IP address mid PM.
This happened in 2006, around the same time of Kevin's banning. Kevin generously allowed me to co-admin his website, which became a transitional website when Shades' site was having problems. When Shades launched what is now MDB, I volunteered to help him. He had been very supportive during this whole MAD incident, and a very good friend.
I also owe thanks to Kevin, Scratch (even though Scratch and I have had our differences, he was very supportive), and BC, who had the guts to defend me to Juliann. It didn't work, but I appreciate the effort.
