Joe, thanks for your contributions! Happy to have you here sharing with us.

Agreed. I almost titled this thread "Attn: Joe Geisner" because I was hoping he would contribute his thoughts.

I need to copy/paste the lists on this thread. Brilliant.

Madison, I am so intrigued by Ehat's thesis. The discussion Brigham Young had on the difference between Hyrum and Joseph was so interesting. Brigham's feeling that Joseph understood 'men'. I know this could be read many ways, but to me it means Joseph was wordly wise. He knew what made men 'tick'. Am loving it. I think there are some quite subtle points being made there. (but that's perhaps my own bias)

I found a chronological compilation by Robert C. Fillerup that seems to combine the works of James Allen, Ehat and Quinn? It's only about 30% of the diaries, so I guess the book Joe refers to would be far superior.

Again though, lots of interesting stuff.

Joe, when I was in the States back in the 80's I stayed with some families who were direct descendants of John Taylor. They mentioned his journals and their unhappiness that some of the doctrines he espoused were being held back. The one I remember them mentioning was John Taylor's belief that every one of us has a guardian angel. They thought that was quite a beautiful doctrine, and couldn't understand why it wasn't being taught publicly.

Mary,

Taylor's diaries are one of the great mysteries. B.H. Roberts had access to diaries for his biography of Taylor that no one seems to know where they are now located.

I have heard about the archangel idea. It seems to me this is contained in his books or addresses. I will see what I can locate.

Taylor also gave many revelations. Way more than any other President of the Church, excepting Smith. If you want Mary, I have a pdf. of Unpublished Revelations that I am more than happy to share with you. Just let me know. Many of Taylor's revelations are in this book. The Taylor revelations are of important interest and I think we will be seeing more on them in the future.
