If you point to how it needlessly breeds hostility, it will be defended by saying you lack a sense of humor. But really, it functions how making fun of the French does on, say, right wing radio. For some people it's a joke. For others in the audience it is not. But for even those that it is, it works on their attitudes inch by inch and before you know it, the vitriol is more real than it is sarcasm.
The church has a very long history of demonizing its critics. While they may be joking with their choice of pejorative epithets, they're not joking about viewing this board as evil.
We hate to seem like we don’t trust every nut with a story, but there’s evidence we can point to, and dance while shouting taunting phrases.
I think it's demeaning towards both poor people who live in trailer parks and the people of this message board to refer to this place as "the trailer park" in a pejorative sense. I would have expected a tenured BYU history professor to show a little more class than that, but it seems my expectations for the faculty of my alma mater were a bit high.

It is quite weird how much this board talks about the other board and vice versa. It's like a family where when someone has a problem with another family member, they don't go talk to the family member directly but instead only go talk about it behind their back with other sympathetic family members.
Maybe if Juliann and Shades could somehow bury the hatchet over that whole transcript fiasco . . . yeah I don't see that happening.

Shady Acres is actually a nickname WE came up with, which is what makes the whole thing rather ironic. Polygamy Porter came up with it years ago.

Hey, where did you steal the right to show a picture?

Hat's off to you Bc. This was the most insightful comment. One the twin behind the big wall will never read.
