DCP's blog sic et non wrote:In case there’s anybody out there who imagines, based upon what I’ve written on this blog, that I’ve become disaffected from Brigham Young University, let alone from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, because of certain recent events — and I have it on good authority that there is at least one person out there who has drawn that erroneous conclusion — I want to be perfectly clear:
I love BYU. I’ve loved BYU since I was in my California teens. I still do.
My testimony of the Gospel of Jesus Christ as restored through the Prophet Joseph Smith is completely intact, as is my commitment to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I sustain the First Presidency and the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles as prophets, seers, and revelators, and I sustain all of the other General Authorities, as well as my local Church leaders.
I still have a calling in the Church (I’m currently a Gospel Doctrine teacher, but have served on high councils, in a bishopric, and as a bishop, and served on the overall Gospel Doctrine writing committee of the Church for nearly a decade), I hold a valid temple recommend, and so forth.
I hope that’s clear enough to dispel any possible confusion.
How does Peterson get a valid Temple recommend when it is obvious that the Word of Wisdom doesn't feature anywhere on his 'things to do' list?

I just discovered this thread, and it is much ado about absolutely nothing.
There was some confusion due to vacations etc. about returning correspondence- I sent a check but it was not cashed. It was never like they took my money and were in any way dishonest.
The whole thing was a misunderstanding- and this is just symptomatic of the usual silliness of this board. You guys really need to get lives and stop living vicariously off of what happens on the other board.

But of course you won't.
Hi there, MFB. I'm glad to hear that you didn't get ripped off, but it's unfortunate that you had to suffer through yet another Mopologetic "misunderstanding." I'm curious, though: did they refund your money? Or did you finally get what you paid for? Or are you still hanging in the lurch?

LOL!!!
Now, there's some thick hypocrisy for you.

For the record, I like mfbukowski. Over the years I have learned a lot from him -- even when I don't agree with his position.
I would like to see the same respect afforded to David Bokovoy and Don Bradley extended to mfbukowski. He's a kind person seeking to understand the world through both a Gospel and philosophical lense.
I would love to see him post more often here so he can see, contrary to popular propoganda, that the majority of this board is full of substantive conversation. Often heated, but substantive.

Seth:
I've only been posting here for a few months, so perhaps I am not the best to speak to this. I will fully admit that it is difficult for believing Mormons to post here without getting attacked, but those that do post here successfully are those that treat other posters with respect rather than referring to them as "rabble" or denizens of a "cosmic sewer" (to be fair, that was Bill Hamblin but I suspect that mfbukowski agrees with him).
The two times I have seen mfbukowski post here, he has come off as an arrogant jerk in my opinion (just like he did in the post that Kish quite rightfully mocked above). It is markedly different from how he posts on MD&D.

Respect is earned. David Bokovoy and Don Bradley are respected for a reason. It didn't just happen out of the goodness of everyone's hearts. It built over time based on their character and intelligence as demonstrated in their posting habits.
If Bukowski wants respect here, then perhaps his only post after a long break shouldn't be a general slam against MDB.
