Definitely intentional brainwashing:

To wit:
Follow the Prophet, Follow the Prophet, Follow the Prophet, Follow the Prophet ad nauseaum
"The Prophet (a.k.a. King) will never lead you astray"
"When the Prophet has spoken, the thinking has been done"
"We believe in faith-promoting history only. Afterall The truth is not uplifting; it destroys.". - Boyd K. Packer
"I know the church is true, I know Joseph Smith was a prophet, I know Mmmmmm is a profit.....as in 1,2,3, "Let's go shopping!"

My limited experience (perhaps this personal experience is slanted and/or not very widely measured) would suggest that in many/most cases, this programming can not be broken down. (At least not in total)

As I see it, you can take the person out of Mormonism but you can not take the Mormonism out of the person. (again, at least not in total. in my opinion)

And there are some positives in Mormon culture that shouldn't be touched.

Ok, we just got home from 3 hours of church. My kids are definitely NOT programmed. OMG.
Oh for shame, how the mortals put the blame on us gods, for they say evils come from us, but it is they, rather, who by their own recklessness win sorrow beyond what is given... Zeus (1178 BC)

Why do your children have to go to the building called 'church' for three hours?

Do they enjoy what happens there?

Do they learn anything there that is worth spending three hours on, and which could not be learned in ways they might find more congenial?

Or what?

(Please excuse me if you have already explained that you have to take them because someone else in your life leaves you no choice.)
Zadok:
I did not have a faith crisis. I discovered that the Church was having a truth crisis.
Maksutov:
That's the problem with this supernatural stuff, it doesn't really solve anything. It's a placeholder for ignorance.

I believe that Zee's wife wants to become active with the family again. I am sure if it were solely up to Zee, they would not be going.
