This must be some top secret squirrel stuff, or BCSpace is full of it. I vote for BCSpace being a liar.

BCspace is clearly projecting his own ideal view of how the church should be run, but it is a reality that only exists in his mind.
Sort of like his "pre-Adamites". A Fascinating theory that is capturing the minds of scientists the world over that still believe in evolution...and a literal garden of Eden populated by the world's first man and woman who had not yet "fallen" and not yet mortal.
I tease bcspace because he is such a good sport.

I keep coming back to this thread hoping BCSpace will answer the question.

You could cut and past this post on any number of threads, especially ones bc himself has started!
Oh...I see you have...

So it appears BC is full of BS on this, but it does make me wonder what BC thinks the consequences should be? It sounds ominous, but what can the church do. It's not the 1850s. You can't take a person's wife and kids, exile them from the community, have them killed, etc. All they can do is meet with the NOM and try to force them to conform. The modern church likes to publicly present themselves as having a diverse membership. NOMs help the church promote this idea. Why would they want to force them into conformity? And even if they do , what if a NOM says they will continue to come to church, but the church doesn't own their brain, the church can excommunicate them, but then they are just playing into the stereotype of a weird cult with brainwashed members.

Drifting wrote:It would seem that the Church makes an allowance for NOM's to be considered proper members and therefore not in need of 'keeping an eye on' nor 'sanctioning'.“Members of the Church vary in their levels of participation or belief. Latter-day Saints who have seriously contravened or ignored cardinal Church teachings (publicly or privately) are considered apostates, whether or not they have officially left the Church or affiliated with another religion” (Encyclopedia of Mormonism [1992], 1:59).

It is little wonder that bcspace no longer holds a leadership position that requires decision making about members.
Wow! It's not the sentence Drifting underlined that I find interesting, but the one I bolded. Is that part true? If so, then maybe that's what's behind what BC was talking about. I mean, isn't labeling someone an "apostate" the first step in pushing them out?

I thought labeling them a wolf in sheep's clothing was the first step to ostracizing someone.
"Any over-ritualized religion since the dawn of time can make its priests say yes, we know, it is rotten, and hard luck, but just do as we say, keep at the ritual, stick it out, give us your money and you'll end up with the angels in heaven for evermore."

Ludd, how's the information gathering going?
"And the human knew the source of life, the woman of him, and she conceived and bore Cain, and said, 'I have procreated a man with Yahweh.'" Gen. 4:1, interior quote translated by D. Bokovoy.

Exactly. That's why I find that sentence in the quote so interesting. I see that the Encyclopedia of Mormonism is dated 1992. 20 years ago. What is liz talking about in terms of recent meetings? Is there a post where bcspace reported what was said?
