KSL-TV will not air "The New Normal," the NBC sitcom slated for a Sept. 11 debut about a single mother's journey through life as a surrogate mother for a gay couple.

That's just sad.
It looks cute.

They are hypocrites. They never refused to air Will & Grace because it made a ton of ad revenue. It's funny how the church preaches free agency, but sensors the crap out of everything whenever possible. Who knows if the show is good or not. Either way the viewers, not KSL, should decide what they want to watch.

LOL'd on this:
"Simpson cautioned that KSL's decision to pass on "The New Normal" is neither an indictment of NBC, nor an attempt to prevent interested viewers from watching the show."

Re: KSL won't air 'The New Normal'
This policy at KSL started when they refused to air the television program, Saturday Night Live. They said it did not meet their standards. They could have taken a different tack and said the program was acceptable as long as it was correctly transmitted, then flipped the off switch on the receivers.
NBC could always pull their programming and go with another station as their affiliate. KSL could then go independent like the BYU football team. This might actually be a great idea, since there are several generations out there who have never been entertained by Kukla, Fran and Ollie.

Re: KSL won't air 'The New Normal'
Perhaps KSL ought to give up its NBC franchise, merge with BYU-TV and create the Mormon Network. That way, another station could pick up NBC in SLC and air all of NBC's offering. KSL does not air what its parent company finds objectionable, and the people of SLC can choose for themselves what each will and will not watch.
That solution ought to be compelled by the LDS' notion (can we call it that, bcspace?) that individuals ought to have free agency?

How is this an example of censorship or the removal of agency? If the owner of a company does not want to air a show, that's his agency. Go make your own tv station and air the program.

It's removing choice, which is the antithesis of the LDS plan of salvation. Who knows what the public sentiment would have been as they are not allowing the "free market" to dictate. My feelings are the show will be crap like most sitcoms that launch and fail after the first season, but let the process run its course by allowing viewers to decide.
