Don't bother, sunstoned. Someone capable of such a repulsive and morally debased "joke" is immune to rebuke.

As well as being gainsaid. Everyone here knows the context and everyone here would defend someone's right to defend themselves from unwanted sexual advances. By the same logic being used against me, everyone critical of what I said must approve of rape.

Just when I think you make your most asinine post, you top yourself.

Here are Packers words:
While I was in a mission on one occasion, a missionary said he had something to confess. I was very worried because he just could not get himself to tell me what he had done.

After patient encouragement he finally blurted out, "I hit my companion."

"Oh, is that all," I said in great relief.

"But I floored him," he said.

After learning a little more, my response was "Well, thanks. Somebody had to do it, and it wouldn't be well for a General Authority to solve the problem that way"

I am not recommending that course to you, but I am not omitting it. You must protect yourself.

For all anyone knows the missionary decked said "wana jerk off together in the shower".....now how does that kind of sexual advance relate to supporting rape......god god your a major league idiot, I feel sorrow for the people of ilinios who have the misfortune of having you in a priesthood calling.

I am very happy to hear that President Boyd K. Packer is dedicating the Temples now. President Boyd K. Packer is the only person that I know of who is as holy as the Temples themselves are. It is great to hear that President Boyd K. Packer is dedicating the Temples now.

I'm just curious -- when did Pres. Monson last dedicate a temple? Seems like a while ago.

Translation: "It works when I BS at church! How come that doesn't work with the rest of the world?"

As has been pointed out in this thread, there is nothing in the context of Packer's October 1976 Priesthood Session talk that suggests there was anything like a rape or lesser degree of sexual assault going on. As a side note, the Church's official website notably omits Packer's talk from the October 1976 Priesthood Session. I guess it's just one of those things!

Instead, you have to go elsewhere to read the inspired counsel of this special witness of Jesus Christ. Like here: http://www.lds-mormon.com/only.shtml

There are some men who entice young men to join them in these immoral acts. If you are ever approached to participate in anything like that, it is time to vigorously resist.

While I was in a mission on one occasion, a missionary said he had something to confess. I was very worried because he just could not get himself to tell me what he had done.

After patient encouragement he finally blurted out, "I hit my companion."

"Oh, is that all," I said in great relief.

But see, Packer explicitly says that he is not recommending punching another guy to the ground (nor omitting that course of action), which means that it was unnecessary under the circumstances he was describing. So the moral of the story is thank God for those young LDS men who are gay bashes, since it would look bad if General Authorities personally beat up gay people.

By the same reasoning, I am sure bcspace will agree that gay people are justified in beating up Mormon missionaries who approach them. I mean, I'm not recommending that course to gay people, but I am not omitting it. Right?
