Who was it who said if your next door neighbor acted like God, you would call the cops on him?

What I don't understand is why people like bcspace celebrate the rotten things God is alleged to do. They seem to get a vicarious thrill out of believing that someday God's gonna kick some serious apostate ass.

It's all fun and games till God turns his malevolent eye on you . . .

Hence the need to worship.

It is better to be a warrior in a garden, than a gardener at war.

Some of us, on the other hand, actually prefer a religion that includes some type of correlation with reality.

Isn't it strange that God commands us to love and forgive everyone but doesn't feel the need to follow his own counsel? I can't think of anyone I hate--so that must mean I'm a better Christian than bcspace's God.

As man evolved, so did man's perception of God. Some parts of the Bible are genuinely ancient. Read Job and the New Testament. God does not avenge upon the innocent within an evil population. Was the entire population of Germany destroyed? No. But the country was brought to its knees. And God only is the judge. Man has no power to judge or condemn, beyond what is necessary to restrain those who have a seared conscience.

LOTR, written during WWII, certainly reminds us of that.

Instead, I am beginning to see God as a complex being with all sorts of different emotions; all that we have and perhaps maybe then, some.

Does he love? Yes.

Does he hate? I think so.

Is he faithful? Probably.

Is he faithless? It looks that way.

Is he jealous? The scriptures say so.

God is not all of these things all the time, but he possesses all these attributes and we see them expressed at different times and in different situations.

All the Best!

In other words, God is just a regular joe, like you and me.

I'll jump in here like I know already what everyone else has to say only to say this: God is love. And what he is doing with us is attempting to kindle love in our hearts by the things which we suffer. You see, since in our native element we are the enemy of God, meaning the antipathy of love, we must undergo the heartbreak of mortality and hell on the other side to wring out of us one drop of real love.

You think God an awful monster and bad dad and that is all good to him for he is all about gaining our advancement in enhanced feelings even is he must endure the blasphemy of being hated for it, like most kind fathers do.

Case in point:
I had S#!+ for life handed to me as a young pup. In that mix I somehow believed in love. I think it a gift in my infancy. Without the rigors of life amid hate filled parents I might not have ever felt after God and found him.

Most people will surely go to hell in hand baskets that they have woven themselves. In hell they will have to sift through all the suffering they know of. Perhaps err long they will venture to weary of hating God and yearn for peace. That is all gain for God. I guess there is no other way to get blood out of the turnips we humans seriously are. Think not? You are neither allowed into his house nor have any rights in his kingdom. That makes you a turnip. One who is turned away.

He has worlds without number. If it takes being incarnated fifty times, what of it? You are not really complaining right now are you? So learn to take your suffering in stride and make some progress whiners!

How sad, sorry and twisted such a statement is. The Higher Orders of Angels are always puzzled when They come across such expressions. Why turn away from Divine Multiplicity? And yet some prefer Hell Fire Side Shows where the Ignorant ape what they have mistaken for God.
