And now...

Post by _Droopy »

Just thought I'd drop by with a few salient essays from the real world, and mention that Congressman John Lewis, still at the lectern, just got through implying that the Republican party wants to take the country back to the Jim Crow South, and that Republicans are actively scheming to suppress minority voting.

This is the most desperate, foam-flecked, overheated DNC I've ever observed, and the party itself has, quite literally, left its hinges.

The "real world" = Front Page. Now that's funny.

Thanks, Droop. We appreciate the "salient" contribution. I guess your goodbyes never last very long.

There is certainly plenty of desperation evident in this election cycle, and it's not coming from the Democrats.

Congressman John Lewis... implying that... Republicans are actively scheming to suppress minority voting.

If you deny that this is exactly what is happening, you are either blind, stupid, or dishonest.

I'd actually prefer unambiguous documentary evidence, empirical facts, and logical argument.

I also think that this claim, coming from a party and its supporters who fielded a president who attempted the brazen, banana republic-like stealing of a close election in broad daylight to be a bit much.

In fairness, the Republicans aren't trying to suppress minority votes. They are trying to suppress Democratic votes in a way that just so happens to disproportionately affect minorities. Poll taxes were trying to suppress the black vote. Modern equivalents are trying to go after people that coincidentally happen to be much more likely to be black.

What in the world are you talking about? Kennedy in 1960?

You'll have to provide some details, since not all of us are familiar with the latest conspiracy fantasies of the right-wing foil-hat crowd.

Droopy! Hello! Still waiting for an explanation here.

Hmm. Has Droop disappeared back into his hole again?

I think he's referring to Gore attempting to get selective recounts in Florida in counties that would favor his vote total. That was some shady stuff. I think it's fair to call it an attempt to steal the election. The Bush team was also into serious shenanigans in Florida, so the whole affair was quite vile. I think he meant "presidential candidate" but maybe not.

The important takeaway here is that Droopy is a fascist who will suppress votes in order to strip people of their voice if need be.
