Church edits sleeves onto 7 year old

Post by _Stormy Waters »

Salt Lake Tribune Article

A photo in the June 2012 LDS Church News, illustrating an article about serving in the Primary, the Mormon children’s program, showed a young Salt Lake City girl sitting on the lap of an adult woman. The girl was wearing a sundress with wide straps.

When the same photo was republished recently on the official LDS website, however, the girl’s dress now had a white T-shirt under it.

I didn't read Orwell's 1984 when I was in high school, but knew roughly what it was about.

Then, almost immediately after I left the church (coincidentally) I got a copy for my kindle and read it.

I was struck by the parallels between the book and the LDS approach to history: Change the past to suit the present. Modify, erase, invent. Alter the representation of reality to suit the requirements of our shared delusion.

Well, good thing too. That 1 1/2 inch of sleeve fabric turned that little girl from a slutty little tramp into a respectable young lady.

More importantly look at the little boy on the far right of the photo. Don't tell me that kid isn't thinking unclean thoughts about candy and raising taxes on the rich.

ROFL. This stuff is just so stupid.

The little girl had a wardrobe malfunction, that's all. You know, she suffered a brief "shoulder slip", but it was fixed in post, so no worries.
Mormonism ceased being a compelling topic for me when I finally came to terms with its transformation from a personality cult into a combination of a real estate company, a SuperPac, and Westboro Baptist Church. - Kishkumen

Don't they realize that the 2nd amendment guarantees the right to bare arms?

I understand the original photo appeared in the Deseret News, but was altered later to help encourage proper dress standards for future garment wearers.

I think the problem is that some people are so pharasiacal that they must not be given the slightest opportunity to justify themselves. Thankfully, we don't have to go so far as to give Jesus a missionary haircut. Now that I've given you an idea, I'd like to see a picture of that by one of you artists pronto.
