Given the state of the economy, and with Greece and the Euro hanging by a thread, I think it's still to early to call. There are polls and there are voters. If Obama's turnout is depressed by a combination of apathy and voter I.D. laws, I think Romney has a shot. But if the election were today, I would give the nod to Obama.
How's it going MDO. What's going on in Greece and Euro? I know Greece is still in an awful way but I thought the Euro ship was beginning to be righted.

He's about halfway though the country this far, but there is some interesting information about electoral makeup and electoral trends in each state. by the way Silver gives Obama a 80.9% chance of winning the election as of today.

Maybe the prophet got his wires crossed (a dirty seer stone or something) and prophesied about the wrong country and continent? Perhaps the Elders of Israel (Mitt, et al) should have been aiming their white horses at Greece and Spain all this time.
Um, back to the proper off-topic, I'm feeling much more optimistic about re-election now, barring something disastrous, of course. The ability to carpet bomb is limited by airtime availability and an opponent who fights back. Newt and Frothy were pretty much unarmed opponents when they were bombed into oblivion.
I also think the debates will be to Obama's advantage, partly because he can throw reality directly into MR's face when he makes false claims. I envision the phrase, "Now Governor, you know that's just not true. Here are the facts..." popping up several times. Plus Mitt's weird mincing steps on stage make him look like a robot.

Do you have any sense for what would happen if Obama wins, the Republicans get 50 seats in the Senate, the Democrats get 49, and independent Angus King of Maine gets one?
That might be a recipe for a bi-partisan coalition of the center to actually get some power.
It’s relatively easy to agree that only Homo sapiens can speak about things that don’t really exist, and believe six impossible things before breakfast. You could never convince a monkey to give you a banana by promising him limitless bananas after death in monkey heaven.
Eastwood told biographer Richard Schickel that he lost his virginity at age 14.[1][2] He has fathered at least seven children by five women and been described as a "serial womanizer."[1][2][3] According to biographers Marc Eliot and Patrick McGilligan, Eastwood had affairs with actresses Catherine Deneuve,[4][5] Jill Banner,[6] Jamie Rose,[7] Inger Stevens,[8] Jo Ann Harris,[9] Jean Seberg,[10] script analyst Megan Rose,[9][11] James Brolin's former wife Jane,[12] columnist Bridget Byrne, [13] and swimming champion Anita Lhoest.[4] Biographer and friend Paul Lippman has indicated that Eastwood was particularly sexually promiscuous in the 1970s. He purchased the Hog's Breath Inn in Carmel in the early 1970s, and he used his apartment nearby to meet young ladies for "nooners" and "five in the afternooners." [14] According to Lippman, "Eastwood seemed to get a bang out of this kinkier side to himself and rarely concealed it, often gloated about it."[14]
Sounds like a liberal to me...

I'm hoping some Senate polls will come out the next week so we can get a grasp on the Senate makeup. It blows my mind a Republican continues to hold a lead in Massachusetts as well as Connecticut being a tossup. Hopefully Obama being on the ticket will up Democratic turnout in those New England states.
I'd love to see a bi-partisan coalition but there really aren't tons of moderate republicans (another drops away this round as Snowe from Maine retires). Incumbent Republican Senators like the one from Utah (name I forget) got Tea bagged in 2010 for working with Democrats so I suspect it will be gridlock either way out of fear. If Obama wins again I see another four years of McConnell obstructionism and filibusters, which sucks.
If/when Angus Young wins (last poll showed him with 50%+) I'm sure both parties will be throwing committee chairmanships at him trying to get him to caucus with them. The Democrats should get him but who knows? Republicans might offer chair of Defense or Foreign Relations or Ways and Means and get him.

Sadly, that's the way I see it too. Most Republicans have much more reason to fear being tea-bagged from the right than being held to account by the general electorate, so I'm afraid their objective will still be to avoid anything that smacks of compromise.
(The name you were looking for is Bob Bennett, who was replaced by the wacko son of Rex Lee, former president of BYU, Mike. Last year, Senator Mikey helpfully attempted to single-handedly hold up all senate legislation out of anger at recess appointments.)

I'm hoping that McConnell will face a strong contender in 2014. Hopefully two more years of obstructionism (plus McConnell being 72 at that time and a 30 year senator) will get McConnell out either through retirement or a strong Democrat.

I very much hope and pray that Senator Scott Brown wins re-election in Massachusetts. I can't stand that ultra-liberal Elizabeth Warren.
