More Problems with the Name?

They just don't seem to have any luck in this regard. First there was "FARMS," and they were ridiculed for this--labeled the "FARMS Boys," accused of "wallowing in the mud," and they even had to suffer the indignity of being occasionally contacted by 4-H-type groups. Sadly, it seems like these name troubles will continue to plague the Mopologists:

I’m told, by the way, that some of my critics have seen great significance in the initials (MI) of our new project, Mormon Interpreter. This, they say, expresses my seething resentment toward the Maxwell Institute (or something like that), and constitutes a not so subtle jab at the original ”MI.”

Their claim would be more persuasive, I suspect, if the name of the new publication were actually Mormon Interpreter. But it isn’t. The new publication is called Interpreter: A Journal of Mormon Scripture, and its initials are, consequently, IJMS, or perhaps IAJOMS, but definitely not MI.

Ooops.

"Ooops" indeed! Especially since the name of the Web site is:

And Bill Hamblin announced the launch of the "journal" thusly:

Man, oh, man! If Scott Lloyd the crack journalist cannot even get the name right, what hope will they possibly have? Pretty much everyone is going to call it Mormon Interpreter! And they'll probably abbreviate it MI for the sake of convenience! Oh no! I guess they could get a new Web address, or totally rename their project. You'd think that, with their past problems with "FARMS," they would have foreseen a problem like this. What a bummer!

You don't really need to read it, though, since you already know what it's about: DCP uses the occasion to complain yet again about his departure from the MI (as opposed to the MI) and to completely misrepresent the circumstances surrounding the whole affair (in his version, he somehow *both* "resigns" and is "dismissed," in spite of the fact that Gerald Bradford clearly asked him to stay on in an advisory capacity). And, of course, there is a cursory "shout out" for the new MI, talking about how great it is and what have you.

Shouldn't Scott Lloyd of Mormon Voices be advocating all it's members to write in to Scott Lloyd to correct his terminology?
