I view God as naturally arising in our universe. I embrace evolution and do not believe our planet is the first to have life evolve on it. Consider intelligent life that arose even a few billion years ago? They would for all practical purposes be what we would call God in comparison to ourselves. I believe this is what we call God.

According to scientific understanding our universe is about 14 billion years old. It is highly likely our planet is not the only habitable planet that has ever existed in the universe (nor the first). It is also reasonable to believe that life has evolved on other planets besides ours. I would like to see any reasonable counter argument to my assertions. I'm guessing you have none so you have to refer to pop culture because you have no other possible response.

I agree with most of your assertions, I made a pop culture reference because I am a trekie. If you want to believe god is a super evolved product of the natural processes of the universe more the power to you. You are however then attributing god as created and not the creator.

We are created beings ourselves, but that doesn't prevent us from creating. I don't see the two as being mutually exclusive. God can be both as well.

Last year the bishop - a biologist - and his father were over here, as home teachers. This is a rare event, not a monthly one, because my wife "has no time for it". (which I glad of)

I revere and follow God because he is more intelligent and advanced than I am and I wish to learn from God. I also believe God is benevolent and freely offers his advice and gifts and does so for our benefit. That is why one should do as God asks - because it is in your best interest to do so.
