I reopened the thread because I had already started preparing some material and I didn't want to waste it. I wasn't going to leave it open forever; all threads close eventually anyway.

when time permits I'll be addressing your claims that the thread was closed because I was insulting you. There are many other issues I will touch on as well.

In the mean time, here is some food for thought: Joseph gave many contradictory versions of the first vision. These versions are not harmonious at all, yet LDS stand by them. They bend over backwards to make accommodations for there presence.

Heber likely mentioned the harvesting of new women to be brought back to zion on a number of occasions. No small issue when a polygamist community dries up the resource that defines polygamy(women). The NYTimes put their reputation on the line likely for a source that desired anonymity. It is completely reasonable that the issue of missionaries picking out the more fair virgins before their arrival in the valley was addressed many different times. It is also completely reasonable that a frustrated Heber was more blundt at times than others.

I will also provide some additional Heber quotes, as well as quotes from other church leaders, that show there is absolutely nothing out of the ordinary or fantastic with regards to this particular quote.
