I wonder if they will allow him to say anything or will it be all one sided?

Here is a little spiritual thought that I hope they consider at the start of the hearing...

This topic of judging others could actually be taught in a two-word sermon. When it comes to hating, gossiping, ignoring, ridiculing, holding grudges, or wanting to cause harm, please apply the following:

Stop it!

It’s that simple. We simply have to stop judging others and replace judgmental thoughts and feelings with a heart full of love for God and His children.

He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone...

He didn't go looking to deconvert people. "Pat" asked him why he had left in the first place. He sent the link to the site that has the comparison of Joseph's and an egyptologist's translation of the facsimiles, and a link to the appropriate FAIR page. "Pat" and his wife were shaken.

However, MT does now have a link to the temple video, and links to Richard Packham's various exposes on the topic. That may have crossed the line for some.

It's a kangaroo court. If the directive has come down from the COB, then the decision has already been made and the meeting is just a formality. Look at the September 6. Evidence wasn't read. Witnesses were not allowed. It doesn't matter. You've got a group of men who get some feeling under their nipples and assume it is the Holy Ghost. There isn't any Priesthood, no God, no power, nothing but a bunch of scared men.

If I were him I'd bring a letter of resignation and read it aloud, sign it in front of them and hand a copy over. If they choose to excommunicate him, sue.

We’ve all been in shock this week at the reaction in the Muslim world that in some bizarre religious way gives justification to the murder of innocent Americans. They justify their actions because some anonymous Egyptian Coptic Christian living in America…exercised his freedom of speech by making an internet video that was offensive to Muslim sensibilities. But does the actions of this one man, exercising his freedom of speech...justify the murder of innocent people? In the Muslim world I guess it does.

The maturity of any society is measured by the level of tolerance that society to the free exchange of ideas, the freedom to express one’s own thoughts, the freedom to hold open dialogue and the ability to have a diversity of views. The maturity of a religion can also be measured by the tolerance of its people and leaders to allow the free expression of ideas even if those ideas are offensive to that religious society. We learned this week that the Muslim world is neither mature nor tolerant of alternative ideas. Tolerance does not mean that they have to like or agree with those alternative vews.

With the news today that Mormonthink participant David Twede is scheduled for a “Court of Love”…we are about to learn just how mature Mormonism has become since September 1993 and the emergence and board use of the internet. My guess is that Mormonism has only been biding its time…waiting for the right opportunity to pounce. David Twede appears to be that opportunity to send a message to all within the internet world of Mormonism who dare exercise their freedom of speech in a manner that is in conflict with official thinking....that there IS a price to pay for doing so.

Just when I was beginning to believe that the church was reaching a level of maturity where they could respect ideas that may offer an alternative to their official worldview ...they too, like the few Muslim’s who have over reacted…show that they are not quite ready to step out onto the world stage as a mature religious body. I hope they prove me wrong…

The temple page is no longer up on MT. If this guy were itching for a fight, why the attempts to whitewash? Why take down his blog and link to FAIR? Why delete the RfM post? Why edit the temple page on MormonThink?

From an "informant:"

I was just told that Trevor Holyoak, the workhorse behind the online resurrection of old-school FARMS, was behind David Twede's "outing."

(Of course, that's only significant if David blogged anonymously.)

Edited to add: My informant just corrected me, saying that if Trevor was not behind the actual "outing" itself he was at least involved with the blog takeover.

(The concept of a "blog takeover" is something I hadn't even considered. . . or believed possible. . . until today.)

This appears to be a drama with multiple narrative tracks. I am adopting a "wait and see" attitude. It is hard to believe the church could be so stupid as to invite a media ****storm with seven weeks to go in the election. But being ahead of the curve isn't exactly the "prophetic" institution's strong suit, is it?
