The Social Security Trust fund has been investing its assets in the safest interest-paying assets that exist—U.S. government securities.
It’s relatively easy to agree that only Homo sapiens can speak about things that don’t really exist, and believe six impossible things before breakfast. You could never convince a monkey to give you a banana by promising him limitless bananas after death in monkey heaven.
MR also doesn't seem to know, or care, that when state and local taxes are included, the poor pay a higher percentage of their income in taxes than anyone else.
Many people were knocked out of the "payers" side due to changes made in 2001 and 2003 (the "Bush tax cuts").
Also, we ought to keep in mind that, because of the regressive nature of payroll taxes, many of the 28% who pay payroll taxes but no income tax, end up paying a higher percentage of their income than Romney does.

He acts like the people who don't pay fed income taxes are worthless, lazy people. The truth is that they are the WORKING POOR.
exactly.
and also, not surprisingly, Republicans have long supported things like the EITC. Reagan famously called it "the best anti-poverty, the best pro-family, the best job creation measure to come out of Congress." i guess he was just a parasite-enabler.

It isn't damning that MR does not know these things. Many people don't.
What damns him is that he doesn't care to know these things.
Pure BS. And my guess is Romney on a % basis has histotrically put more money and time into doing something about such things than all the Romney haters here combined.
I am sure the Romney haters will dismiss this as well because it is coming from Glenn Beck.
I have my issues with Romney and his flipping around. I like the moderate Mitt from his governor days better. But I am not sure I get why so many of your here just loathe Romney like you seem too.

A "guess" based on what evidence Jason? Haven't you been paying any attention to any of the horrendous things Romney has said and done lately? The evidence he provides leads to the exact conclusion beastie reached.

Who was responsible for the tax breaks that allows for such a high % lower income Americans to drop off the income tax roles?

I agree Romney's language was poorly worded. But the point really is between more entitlements and government intervention or less. Given the crowd he was speaking too don't you think this might have been poorly worded rhetoric?
