Sure, it's just a board, but a lot of people have mentioned that going there for answers was one of the last straws for them. Allegedly you have a message board frequent by apologetic big guns, yet struggling and questioning members are derided, attacked, and provided with no reassuring information. Fence Sitter is right that, despite its intended purposes, that place just puts grease on the slide leading out of the church.

Let me put this into perspective for you. I know that you are posting on CAF. What do you think would be their reaction if I opened a site called CatholicThink and this site had the same goals as mormonthink? Do you think that the catholics on that site would consider my sight to be faith promoting? And then, I would write a blog about how I met a catholic friend at Mass and attempted to educate him about the dark side of catholic history so that instead of coming back into the faith he would have something to think about to give him some doubts? Do you think that the CAF members would be happy with me?
Give it some thought.

You keep saying that David did that, but it's not true. The other guy offered to help David with his doubts, and David presented his reasons for doubting. What did you expect him to do?

Nonsense. Going to MDD for answers is not the purpose of the board. It is a discussion board not an answer board. So, getting a post from Pahoran led them out of the church? Come on...lets be serious here. Or getting a post from Dan? Geez, that would be like me leaving the catholic faith because I got what I interpreted as a rude post from a CAF member.
Unbelievable.

Would you be telling that person anything that was not true? Don't members of a religion have the right to know all the truth about the religion and then make the decision for themselves?

Is the purpose of the board to ridicule the struggling? If it is, they're doing a damn good job.
Here's the problem, just so you can get it through your sick, cult-addled brain:
People find out something troubling about the church. They go to their church leaders, who don't know anything about it. They go to apologetic organizations like the MI and rather than having their troubles resolved, usually find out it's worse than they thought. Finally, in desperation, they find MDD because the big apologists post there, and they think maybe they'll get an answer they couldn't find at FAIR or FARMS. They naïvely ask for help and are immediately attacked and ridiculed.
Do you really think you people aren't helping people out of the church?

It requires some lack of introspection to assert that why me and the other mopologists can mock and hate and ridicule without having any effect on people's faith in the church. Totally clueless.
I didn't leave the church because a lot of mopologists are assholes. I left because the church isn't true. That some mopologists are assholes reminds me why I don't deal with them much.

I decided to send Pat two links: The first link to Mormon information Graphics on the Book of Abraham, and a second one to FAIR’s explanation of one of the facsimiles. That way Pat would see the fully-exposed (Elohim’s "godhood" included) version and the “legitimate version” at FAIR. I sent it on Wednesday night, and heard back from Pat on Saturday morning. The response surprised me a little.
PAT: I have never seen this. I’ve been in dismay for the past couple of days. Based on your reaction at church I thought I might be able to help ease your doubts. Now I don’t know.
Here is the point. David has doubts. He has had doubts for years most likely. He attends church. He has a site called mormonthink which has an agenda. He expresses his doubts at church. A member wants to help him. He sends the member something that he knows that member might not know. Thus, the whammy. And the woman...the same process...thus the second whammy. I smell a set up.

Oh, no! He sent the truth in response to a request from a member! That bastard!
