How does expressing an opinion make someone unhappy? And how does sharing truth constitute an attack on someone's faith?

I think they may just not want the truth for fear it will make them less happy then they are now. I'm fine with that, but don't expect that in places that are clearly for the opposite. Maybe you could ask this in the celestial to jo and frank. They get upset at people expressing their opinions that they think are attacks on faith. They haven't said they are upset if I or they do it to someone who is a satanist though.

Except that's not what happened, and you know it. Does anyone else find it ironic that why me is resorting to a lie to condemn someone whose crime was to share truth?

That is how I read the blog. Here is an important point for you: No one knows their church's history completely. However the institute manual has much history in it. More than the average church members of other denominations study if they study anything at all.

Like I said, the LDS church should have a 1000 page book written by critics, studied by the members like they were studying for a SAT test. Would that satisfy you?`

I can't take it anymore..time to commit myself. :surprised:

Pat: Hey, why me, I hear you have some doubts about the Book of Abraham.
why me: Yes, that's true.
Pat: Can you share with me what is troubling you?
why me: I would but that would be wrong because it would be intentionally destroying your faith.

Yes, his argument is that stupid.

I like your other post of him thinking it's ok to do it with Catholics. Too funny

So, your advice is to never share what you know if your knowledge might threaten someone's faith, even if it's true?

Would you be telling that person anything that was not true? Don't members of a religion have the right to know all the truth about the religion and then make the decision for themselves?

So, I go to Mass, meet fellow catholics, and tell them that I doubt the catholic faith, they want to help and then I give them some nice tidbits about a couple of popes or what the friars did to saint john of the cross and I pose doubting questions to help them so they can see the truth about catholic history because they should not be ignorant of their catholic history.

Shouldn't people know the truth about thier religions? The truth shall set you free and all that...?

Apparently, ignorance is bliss, with or without light cotton.

No, no, no. Some things that are true are not very useful.

Do you know the truth about your country's history. Should you know? Do you care? Probably not. Do most catholics want to know the truth about their history? Probably not. Who is teaching them the truth about their history? No one. Give it a rest.

I don't. I just showed the hypocrisy of it all. The argument is foolish.
