I'd rather have a beer with Obama--he'll win

Since 1992, the media has mentioned the who-would-you-rather-have-a-beer test for which presidential candidate would win:

1992: Clinton over Bush 41
1996: Clinton over Dole
2000: Bush 43 over Gore
2004: Bush 43 over Kerry
2008: Obama over Clinton

Notice a correlation? The beer favorite went on to win.

So, 2012: Of course, the beer test goes to Obama. Who would want to drink a beer while tea-totaler, Mormon Mitt looks down his patrician nose at you?

I'm not a fan of Obama. I'm not a fan of Mitt. But since Mitt secured the Republican nomination in April, I've steadfastly predicted that the beer-test winner (Obama) would win, making it a predictor in 6 straight correlations.

I have always enjoyed my very few and very brief conversations with Bill Clinton. I would treat him to lunch at the vegan coffee shop on my corner if I got the chance.

Don't take my lunch offer as an endorsement of all of Clinton's policies. It's not. I'd like to talk to him about how disappointed I was with his term. Thing is, I can imagine having that conversation with him. I can't imagine even talking to ... George W? I mean, you know, even chit chat, where you say something and the other person can keep up his end of the human bargain? Romney? Forget it. I know rich ass Mormons and I don't take their brand of glad handing. And Romney? He's like a computer simulation of those types.

It's not Republicans, Kish. Hell, I could even imagine having a drink with Dick Nixon. The sad thing is I would love to have had a chance to talk to George Romney. He was a decent man.

I blame the evisceration of public education. Something I lay squarely at the feet of the nouveau "Republican" party.

I dunno. The problem is people who serve the beer don't want Obama anywhere near them. Besides the fact that he implemented policies which hurt their businesses, even Obama's presence is bad for business. Last time he was at a state fair, he cost the local beer meister $10,000 or $20,000 in lost sales that day.
