Do you know the truth about your country's history. Should you know?

Do you care? Probably not. Do most catholics want to know the truth about their history? Probably not. Who is teaching them the truth about their history? No one. Give it a rest.

"Do you know the truth about your country's history. Should you know? " - Yes I do study our history and I do care. I want to know the bad along with the good. Of course my country's history doesn't affect my religious beliefs

"Do most catholics want to know the truth about their history? Probably not." - They should care, but it is their choice.

"Give it a rest" Why should I give it a rest?

I mean, what is so wrong with knowing the truth about something?

You are wrong. The uncomfortable truths about the Catholic Church have become a major issue among Catholics recently. Especially in Europe. How many Bishops and Priests have been brought to justice in the last few years? Many more to come here and in Europe.

Membership in the Catholic Church has dropped dramatically in recent years and continues at a rapid pace. Every story about Catholic indiscretions is front page news all over the world. No doubt that it has always been that way, but now a strong light is being shown upon it and people are pissed.
This, or any other post that I have made or will make in the future, is strictly my own opinion and consequently of little or no value.

Charles Darwin and Galileo (for instance) should have kept quiet then Why me, since publishing their scientific ideas threatened contemporary faith, and lets not underestimate just how much it has undermined faith. Faith that is built on half truths and misrepresentations needs to be shaken. It's all about building on a solid foundation, and as far as I am concerned faith should be built on a foundation of truth, honesty and openness.

Good grief;)

I don't. I just showed the hypocrisy of it all. The argument is foolish.

You mean your argument that Brian Laundrie described. I would agree your argument is that stupid.

Pat: Hey, why me, I hear you have some doubts about the Book of Abraham.
why me: Yes, that's true.
Pat: Can you share with me what is troubling you?
why me: I would but that would be wrong because it would be intentionally destroying your faith.

Yes, his argument is that stupid.

Mary. Nothing wrong with truth. But mormonthink is not about truth. It is about leading people out of the church. I linked this part about the Book of Mormon from the site:

http://www.mormonthink.com/josephweb.htm

Now go through this long page and tell me it isn't bias. Of course it is. The all page is one big 'lets cast doubt' page. And it is not about truth at all. It is just a woulda, coulda and shoulda page, only to cast doubt in members minds. And the take on this page is designed to undermine faith.

Hardly. The site is riddled with casting doubt not truth. And that is why dave is heading to the court and others who are involved with the site.

It would be interesting to have dave tell us why he returned to church. I can only guess: to be a mole. But I could be wrong. Nice to have his story.

You sound like charlie brown. By the way, my daughter is visiting the temple in your area today with some of her new YSA friends. She seems to like her experiences so far. She will be hanging around for a few months.

Interesting, but that fence sitter is not me. I do not post at CAF.
