MDDS poster [Pahoran]

Post by _3sheets2thewind »

Why is MDDB poster "[real name deleted]" who has 12 post allowed to have posts edited on this website?

Are we now going to edit William Schrvyer, Bill Hamblin, Daniel Peterson?

I posted that there is a poster by the name "[real name deleted]" on MDDB, my post was edited? Has MDDB "[real name deleted]" created a sock-puppet here?

Even if "[real name deleted]" on MDDB has created a sock-puppet here, why would he get special privilege to have the very name he used on MDDB edited out?

If MDDB did not want his named used, he should not have used his name to create a MDDB Account.

Knowing the name Pahoran is sufficient. Anything else leads to skulduggery.

Because Universal Rule #7 reads, "Do not reveal personal or 'in real life' information about any poster on this site that he or she has not explicitly revealed here. This includes avoiding mention of his/her actual first or last name, even if he or she has made it available on some other website."

Are we now going to edit William Schrvyer, Bill Hamblin, Daniel Peterson?

No, because the first and third of them used their real names openly here, whereas the second one isn't a registered user and thus doesn't have the right to make the request.

MD&DB doesn't create anything here.

Even if "[real name deleted]" on MDDB has created a sock-puppet here, why would he get special privilege to have the very name he used on MDDB edited out?

Because I don't care what someone does or doesn't reveal on another board. For all I know, that account was created maliciously. Or else he regrets making it.

If MDDB did not want his named used, he should not have used his name to create a MDDB Account.

Feel perfectly free to use his real name over there, where that account exists.

Just quit using his real name here, people.

If you won't do it for him, then do it for the moderation team so that you're making less work for them.

Here's what I don't understand about Pahoran. When he was on Z, "Pahoran" was freely identified with his real name. Then, after a few years (how many I don't know because I wasn't around for the first years of Z), he declared that he no longer wanted to be identified with his real name. So after that, despite archives and the common knowledge of posters on Z, no one was allowed to refer to him by his real name.

And that's what I don't understand. If it were really so important to him that his real identity be kept private, he would have created an entirely new screen name to avoid the archive/common knowledge problem. Yet he's never done that, even when he moved to MAD. It just has never made sense to me. Good grief, only the most tender newbies could be unaware of who he is. Yet it cannot be spoken.

Times have changed. The internet has become one big nuthouse. Also, it is not so easy to forget your own screen name. It tends to grow on you after a while.

You'll know him when you see him - or when he sees you!

Well, many of us know who he is anyway. And I am sure there are plenty of folks around who would be happy to tell anyone his in real life identity behind the scenes. Still, I can understand the desire to keep it out of the general public eye as much as possible.

I don't mean to speak for Pahoran, and I may be remembering wrong, but I seem to recall him saying somewhere that he doesn't want Internet searches for his real name to lead people here.

And I can understand that. That's part of the reason that I switched from using my real name as my handle here to using "MsJack." I don't care if people know and occasionally reference my real name here, but I didn't want Web searches for it to become saturated with hits for this site.
