Raise your hand if it would bother you if Jesus revealed himself as effeminate at the 2nd Coming.

Mormonism does not allow hermaphrodites to fulfil God's plan for us.
Why did God not cater for all the people He was planning on giving bodies to?

Re: Allowing transexuals into the Mormon church?
For what its worth;
I knew a person in the DC / Northern Virginia area when I was about 12 or 13 that was raised as a male (he was in my deacon's quorum!!) but was apparently born in a gender-ambiguous state. He (she) was very effeminate and seemed strange to me in other ways.
He/she later had an operation and began living and dressing as a woman apparently with the full blessing of the LDS church.
Years later I attended a stake young adult dance in another state (Maryland) and saw my friend from decon's quorum on the dance floor wearing a dress. It was a strange feeling at the time but I see no reason not view this person as fully female at this point.

when believers want to give their claims more weight, they dress these claims up in scientific terms. When believers want to belittle atheism or secular humanism, they call it a "religion". -Beastie

Quark,
1 Your insensitivity to this issue is astounding. "Judge not lest ye be judged"
2 Generalisations never help. You could dress her is a potato sack and she will still be a she. From the tone of your posts it is clear that you have a limited understanding of the issue and feel somehow threatened by it. Nobody here is questioning your manhood.
3 The female spirit is not defined by the trappings thereof. It is quite clear you do not understand this and that you feel threatened by it.
4 I really thought that this forum would be free of "trolling" seems I was wrong.

And yet you go on to judge Quark...

Re: Allowing transexuals into the Mormon church?
Speaking of Hermaphrodites, have any of you read the story By His Own Bootstraps by the late science fiction author Robert A. Heinlein? This is a story involving time travel and an unusual and very plain looking orphan "girl" who fell in love with and had a passionate affair as a teenager with a stranger who impregnated her and then abandoned her. Her womb was very poorly developed and in the process of a very difficult delivery, the doctors found it necessary to perform a hysterectomy.
As it turned out, "she" was a hermaphrodite, and the doctors were able to salvage her male organs and turn her (now him) into a fully functional male. Immediately after giving birth, his baby was kidnapped, never to be recovered by him (at least, not while still a baby), which greatly added to his sorrow. When he was fully mature, he was recruited into a highly secret organization of time guardians dedicated to using time travel to go back in time to try to ameliorate or prevent disasters and injustices caused in the past by human folly. On one of his excursions into the past, he met and fell in love with his former female self, got her pregnant, and abandoned her only to come back later and steal his/her baby from the hospital. Then he travelled further back in time with the baby and left it in a basket on the steps of an orphanage with a note to please take good care of her. I'm sure you guessed who that little "orphaned" baby was!
After that, he went back to the future in time to meet his newly matured future, but still younger self and recruit himself into the "time guardian" organization where both adult versions of himself continued a fulfilling(?) career. Thus this character managed to become both his own mother and father.

No precept or claim is more likely to be false than one that can only be supported by invoking the claim of Divine authority for it--no matter who or what claims such authority.

I'm very willing to admit that I have a *very* limited understanding of the issue, assuming the issue is transsexualism. The topic was never brought up in my schooling and my friends only touched the subject in jest from time to time. Born and raised in a small Utah town, I was never exposed to such things. My parents made sure we understood the clear distinction between genders and their roles.
Nevertheless, I must find myself gravitating to a female being in my spiritual life. This is how I see God. This is how I see Jesus. Be it as it may. This is sprouting from something deep inside me. The image I posted earlier is extremely meaningful to me.

Oh, and yes - I really would love to wear high heels. If I was the only person on the entire planet, I would walk over to the mall and put them on and walk in them on carpet, tile, wood flooring, and then go outside and walk in the grass with them.

I really like this one:
