I understand your point.

I'm confused. Why would Quasi be scratching BC's head?

Easy for you to say! You don't have to live here. We're just starting to get past the mess that W. left us. I don't relish the idea of going down that rat hole again.

Maybe there is some legal way for Mitt to become the Prime Minister on your side (after all, he does share a Saxon heritage).

question: when Obama wins by margins that closely match the polling concensus, will this be evidence that the election was rigged?

I know Romney has been a laughing stock in various parts of the world for a while now. But I don't think he's yet had his "bad" week.

It is getting even worse now for Romney, who trails in Ohio by as much as ten points. Ohio is a must have for Romney if he is going to have any chance at all.

I took the block off my TV today so I could see what FOX News was saying. I haven't laughed this hard in months. They're having conniption fits trying to delude their audience into thinking the polls are biased for Obama and that this is all just some Liberal conspiracy.

If Romney wins in states where Obama led in the polls by as many as 8 or 10 points, will this be evidence that most polls are rigged to favor Democrats as a psychological campaign weapon?

Rasmussen still has the rep as one of the, if not THE, most accurate poll. They should have another Ohio poll out in a few days. In the meantime, Romney and Obama are still tied overall in the swing states as a whole. Also we see Obama's lead almost evaporated in PA and the Senate race in that state down to 2 points.

This is the problem for Romney. The national polls show a very close popular vote, but who cares? There are only about 7 battleground states, and Romney has to win almost all of them. But the polls in those states show Obama leading in every poll, and some have him with a comfortable lead. Romney needs to get his butt to Florida, Ohio, and Virginia and do some heavy campaigning if he has any hope of winning.

if Obama loses any state where he leads by 8 or more points in the RCP composite of polls on the eve of the election, then yes i will agree with you that the polls were rigged.

but you didn't answer my question: if it turns out the polls were accurate by and large, will you just turn around and say the vote counters fixed the result to match the polls put out by their co-conspirators CBS/NYT/Gallup/Fox News?

meanwhile in reality, an analysis by Nate Silver in 2010 found that Rasmussen was the worst pollster of the 2010 cycle:

The 105 polls released [in the final three weeks of the campaign] in Senate and gubernatorial races by Rasmussen Reports and its subsidiary, Pulse Opinion Research, missed the final margin between the candidates by 5.8 points, a considerably higher figure than that achieved by most other pollsters. Some 13 of its polls missed by 10 or more points, including one in the Hawaii Senate race that missed the final margin between the candidates by 40 points, the largest error ever recorded in a general election in FiveThirtyEight’s database, which includes all polls conducted since 1998.

Moreover, Rasmussen’s polls were quite biased, overestimating the standing of the Republican candidate by almost 4 points on average. In just 12 cases, Rasmussen’s polls overestimated the margin for the Democrat by 3 or more points. But it did so for the Republican candidate in 55 cases — that is, in more than half of the polls that it issued.

If one focused solely on the final poll issued by Rasmussen Reports or Pulse Opinion Research in each state — rather than including all polls within the three-week interval — it would not have made much difference. Their average error would be 5.7 points rather than 5.8, and their average bias 3.8 points rather than 3.9.
