I feel Sorry for the Cast of "The Book of Mormon" Musical

Post by _Craig Paxton »

The character Elder Price has been evoking the name of Thomas Monson in the seminal ballad “I Believe” since the show first premiered in March of 2011. Having sung the song so often…the actor(s) would get into a kind of rhythm....and the words to the song would flow smoothly...

I believe that God has a plan for all of us.
I believe that plan involves me getting my own planet.
And I believe; that the current President of The Church, Thomas Monson, speaks directly to God.
I am A Mormon,
And, dang it! a Mormon just believes!

But I doubt these acotrs have any idea what they will soon be facing...

Imagine how frustrating it will soon be for this actor to have to sing

And I believe; that the current President of The Church, Thomas Monson, speaks directly to God
To
And I believe; that the current President of The Church, Boyd K. Packer, speaks directly to God
To
And I believe; that the current President of The Church, L. Tom Perry, speaks directly to God
To
And I believe; that the current President of The Church, Russell M. Neilson, speaks directly to God

All in the course of 3 to 6 months… (Potentially)

For a performer who gets into sync with his character and the words of the song….I can only imagine that he is going to get frustrated having to change the words to his song every other month or so. No doubt he will flub up his performance more than once

A bunch of us from the UK are going to see this musical in March. I'm either going to love it or hate it. I like the music already. Will reserve judgement until I've seen it.

For what they are getting paid, I'm highly confident that they can handle it.

And if, on some unfortunate evening, someone on stage does use the wrong name, the audience will have yet another aspect of Mormonism to enjoy (read "laugh at").

While.some of it might be entertaining, the whole sex with a frog to cure aids is too much.

OMG! I'm glad I'm not the only one. I cannot stand that part.
