Call to Fast for Mitt Romney in the Debates

Post by _Cicero »

A family member just emailed this to me. Ye gods, spare me!

I think this is a Super idea!!!! Especially if you don’t already have something that you are fasting for this Sunday, then, here you are. Perfect!! If we could spread this to all of our LDS friends and family by Sunday and Fast and Pray for Brother Romney and give him our support in view of all of the good works he does for other people all of the time without ever wanting anything in return, maybe we can now help him by our faith. What better help can we give? So let us pass this on to all that we can, and get a massive fast and pray going this Sunday in behalf of Brother Romney. Maybe, through our efforts we can help him help our nation see that we need to get back on track, we need to strengthen our constitution and put a man in the Presidency who will actually uphold and honor it, not trample it. We need virtue and integrity, not deceit and agendas. Selflessness, not selfishness. And a man has a right to enjoy some of his own earnings rather than watch them all get redistributed so that he can’t even take care of his own. This is still the greatest nation, let’s have a president in office that believes in America, not one that thinks “eh, we’re no better than anyone else, and the flag is a sign of oppression.” How can we exist with a weak leader like that, we can’t, and we’ve seen that. In 4 years we have sunk into the second worse, if not the worse, depression in our history, and it is NOT Bushes fault! No more excuses!!

Let’s spread this, and then let’s remember to send out reminders when this weekend comes.

And here's the original email that he forwarded:

Dear friends and family, I have been extremely frustrated with how things are going in our country. A lot of my frustration is because I feel I don't know what to do to really make a change.

Well, this time I do. I am asking you to join me and my family on Sunday Sept. 30 by fasting and praying for Mitt Romney.

That he will be blessed in the debates, which will be held Oct. 3rd.

I know that seems like such a small thing but I believe "from small things, great things can come about". I know that fasting and praying brings about miracles. I also know of no power greater than our Father in Heaven. He loves this land and has blessed it many times before. . . with all our fasting and prayers there will be a great power and protection upon us and this great nation.

Please send this to all who you know that may have the faith to pray for the help we so desperately need at this time. Please let this wave of faith move through out this great nation.

Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world, and to fast that a politician will perform adequately in a debate.

I used to get frequent emails from friends and family of this sort and even more so the ones that are blatant political glurges. Regardless of who was the subject of the email, I would use find and replace to substitute the name of the politician with the name of his rival and send it back to the sender (usually I hit "reply to all".). So if it was an anti-Obama email it would go back as an anti-McCain or Romney to the sender. I don't get nearly as much email these days. When someone would challenge me on it, I would ask them to show that the original email was correct first.

It would be fun to respond to this email with one calling for a day of fasting for Harry Reid to continue as Senate Majority Leader.

If Romney loses, it is going to shake a lot of people's faith. God is supposed to be watching over the United States.

They'll just take it as a sign that the country is becoming even more wicked than they thought.

This is my favorite part:

Especially if you don’t already have something that you are fasting for this Sunday, then, here you are.

lol

...this demonstrates the emphasis on performing the act over the true meaning.

My favorite part was what I've bolded and italicized:
. . . in view of all of the good works he does for other people all of the time without ever wanting anything in return
OMFG!

"Brother Romney"?

Sometimes, I can't help but hope he gets elected.
