MT Twede's court cancelled

Post by _lulu »

"And the human knew the source of life, the woman of him, and she conceived and bore Cain, and said, 'I have procreated a man with Yahweh.'" Gen. 4:1, interior quote translated by D. Bokovoy.

The problem with the whole saga is that it has seemed stage-managed, on all sides, since the very beginning. I'm glad to see that the Stake President has put an end to the farce.

Boy, it seems DCP & Co can't get a break anywhere these days, not even from an SP and bishop in Florida!

Hopefully there will be more information released explaining why.

I like to think my comments about it on this website were the deciding factor.

I'd like to think it was my thread/challenge about finding something incorrect on Mormonthink.

But I suspect is was David Twede being completely innocent of any wrongdoing vis a vie Mormonthink, that might ultimately be the cause...

Now, as long as his Stake President, Alan Pratt, doesn't find out about Twede's masturbation problem, he should be all set. The apostasy can slide in these political times, but the Lord's annointed have to draw the line somewhere.

ps: I have no evidence that Brother Twede is actually interfering with his little factory

Mormonism ceased being a compelling topic for me when I finally came to terms with its transformation from a personality cult into a combination of a real estate company, a SuperPac, and Westboro Baptist Church. - Kishkumen

I'd be more inclined to believe that it was pressure from above (Slat Lake not God) that changed the stake president's mind. The fallout for such a trail at this time could be very embarrassing. We are left to wonder if the cancellation is temporary or permanent. If proceedings are brought up again in the future that will be a good indication of someone wanting to avoid the negative publicity at this time.
He is not innocent in the Church's mind, the fact he was accused of apostasy, a vague charge that needs no evidence other than an accusation, means he was guilty.

Which leaves one wondering why the court was scheduled in the first place.

By the way, reading this Paisley Perestroika page, I'm really struck by certain ironies, and I despair that I am not articulate enough to get it out gracefully and poignantly. I'll start first with a couple quotes.

Brother Twede wrote:If you stand for increasing monies to poverty and hunger, and diminishing the money-changing influence in Salt Lake HQ, then you can stand in solidarity at church by quietly dressing differently.
...
We understand there is a fast this Sunday for Mitt Romney. If the members can fast for a wealthy politician, then they can wear paisley for the poor.

Wear Paisley for the poor?

And here's where words fail me. I mean, I get that he's advocating some kind of symbolic protest, and in theory protests, if they gain enough traction, can ultimately result in change (though I rather doubt it in the LDS church, but then I wouldn't have predicted the East German government would cave so suddenly in 1989 either).

But seriously, "wear paisley for the poor"?

Mormons fast and pray so they can feel like they're actually doing something about their problems without actually doing something about their problems. So how does a Mormon work toward feeding and housing the poor? By wearing a different color shirt. Now they get to feel like they're doing something to solve other peoples' problems without actually doing anything to solve other peoples' problems.

Maybe I'm being too cynical.

by the way, I'm glad his court has been cancelled. Any bets on whether his trial is rescheduled on Nov. 7th?
