Hey Scratchy: how come you've given up posting sarcastic comments about Dan's blog? Have you run out of "inside" information since he unfriended your in real life identity on Facebook?

So, Dan 'excommunicated' Dr Scratch from Facebook huh? Was a 'court of love' conducted? Very Mormony of Dan, don't you think?
It has been a rough year for Daniel, and I am genuinely sad for the tough times he has had. On the other hand, he has had some good times too. Clearly his world travels were filled with good times. He shared these experiences with us on his blog.
I would say, however, that it has been a good year for Mormonism, and that even better times are on the horizon. Some former apostates have returned to the fold. NAMIRS has an opportunity to raise its scholarly profile in the field of Mormon Studies. So far the Church has avoided some potentially explosive disciplinary proceedings against heterodox or doubting members.
One could list many more positive developments for the LDS Church. I am encouraged by their practical position on immigration and willingness to support both civil unions and gay rights in the workplace. If we sat back and thought about it for a while, I am sure many more good things could be listed.
So, while Daniel Peterson had a challenging year full of ups and downs, I would say that on the whole it has been a very good year for the LDS Church.

FYI, Pahoran claims to know Scratch's in real life identity. The suspected Scratch is a good friend of mine and I figure he's one hell of a good liar and phony if we've been friends for this long and I don't know who he really is underneath the friendly appearances.

Wow. I guess all those times that Daniel told me he had no idea who Scratch was were lies.
Who knew?

No, he simply removed him from his "friends" list when he found out who he was. Evidently the Malevolent Stalker sent Dan a "friend" request in his in real life name, which of course Dan did not know at the time.

That's right. If Dan knows something today, he must have known it forever. Nobody ever finds out anything they didn't know before.
I wonder what it is that makes someone reflexively assume that someone has lied when there is a far more parsimonious explanation to hand?
Pahoran, why are you so sure you have the right person? You mention a nebulous "informant," but that's no better than a Scratch post, which you decry.

Dan has bigger problems in 2012 than worrying who Scratch was/is/might be...

Maybe it was Scratch behind the entire MI fiasco. It's possible that Gerald Bradford is Scratch (or maybe even Marlin Jensen).
