Rasmussen: Romney 43% Obama 42%

Post by _bcspace »

Currently, 43% of voters are “certain” they will vote for Romney. Forty-two percent (42%) are that certain they will vote for Obama. The remaining 15% are either uncommitted or open to changing their mind.

Romney is currently going for 24.5 cents on Intrade right now. That's a huge return on investment for you BCSpace. Let me know how many thousands of dollars you put down.

So now we determine who is 'certain' to vote and what percentage of voters who are 'likely' to vote will actually vote? Most polls show Obama ahead in the swing states.

Personally I don't get too excited by polls at this time of the year, unless they are showing a landlslide. To use a football analogy, I'd say Obama is up by a field goal or a touchdown early in the fourth quarter. Romney is still within striking distance. We have four debates. Europe and the Middle East are shaky. There are more economic reports to come. We have the unknown variable of Voter I.D. laws. And then there are the UNKNOWN unknown variables: Someone has a secret recording of Obama peforming a partial Islamic ablution prior to the White House Easter Egg Hunt. Paul Ryan caught sacrificing a dressage horse upon the Alter of Ayn Rand.

Everyone wants to know the future. Will it rain or be sunny on Election Day? An unknown variable like that could help influence the turnout in a swing state.

Vox populi, vox dei.

National polls don't matter. There are a handful of swing states that will decide this election, and Obama's lead in these swing states has grown to double digits. Romney better hit out of the park during the debates, and he needs to spend the remainder of the campaign in Florida, Ohio, and Wisconsin if he has any hope of winning.
