'Jesus Christ' came to do away with much of the monstrous and vengeful Mosaic law and taught pacifism and love.

I like the authorities cited by subgenius for the argument in the OP, including but not limited to this one. It is good to know that hearsay from Orson Hyde about something Joseph Smith allegedly said, that is published in the Journal of Discourses in the mid-nineteenth century, constitutes a valid statement of Mormon doctrine in 2012. I wonder if there are any other statements from prophets and apostles published in the Journal of Discourses that we can examine. I am sure Mormon apologists will accept all such statements as valid expressions of current Mormon teachings, no? Or are bcspace and subgenius going to have to engage in an MDB mopologist celebrity death match on what constitutes doctrine.
