Re: This debate is driving me nuts.
I wonder if Romney will suffer any by insisting on getting the last word in, to hell with the time rules they agreed to?
I know the commentators are lauding the behavior as an indication of "wanting it more" and "fighting for time," but I wonder if the normal person sees it as rude and obnoxious? I know I did, but I also know I can't rely on my own reaction because I already dislike the man.

They should borrow something from little leauge baseball and should have called the mercy rule, and stopped after about 30 minutes.

Yes. I own an S Corporation myself.
Yes salaries are deductible. But higher taxes do mean less profits for say expansion. I have a client that wants to vertically integrate his manufacturing business and doing so could add 10-15 jobs. But he says if his taxes go up it will hurt cash flow enough that he may reconsider.
Help me out here. What expansion expenses would not also be deductible? Please explain.
Also, we're talking about an additional $4,600 on every $100,000 of income above $250,000. That hardly seems like enough to affect 10 to 15 jobs (unless... are they, perhaps, part-time babysitters?), even if he were to pay them out of after-tax profits.

Re: This debate is driving me nuts.
Romney won the debate.
That doesn't mean I think he had the better argument, but I think he presented his argument much more effectively than the President.
I was mildly surprised at how well Romney did, but I was kind of shocked by how poorly Obama did. He really didn't go after Romney at all. To use a football analogy, he used a 'prevent defense', which is okay if you're winning in a blowout, but not in a close game.
I think Obama's strategy was to come across as 'Presidential' and above the fray, but he came off as being disengaged.
The fallout remains to be felt. There could be blowback on some of Romney's rather incredible statements about his tax plan, but I think the Republicans will feel a big shot of energy after tonight. The bottom line is how many points he will pick up in swing states.

Since I believe liberals believe their own doctrine, I think it likely Obama was trying to play the victim for the other bleeding hearts out there. In other words, both men were appealing directly to their base tonight.

That was my feeling as well. Romney pummeled the president in this debate. I'm not a big fan of Romney. His 47% remarks, and overseas trips really turned me off. But he was in a zone tonight. Obama seemed disinterested and unprepared. He reminded me of Clint Eastwood at the RNC with his stammering. Even the democrats admit Romney won this debate. I suspect Obama will be more prepared next time.

Hey MeDot
Without question!
Yes, I agree.
And I would add that Romney seemed to be much, much more prepared.
I was very surprised.
Yea, me too.
Again, I agree with you.
Obama seemed to have things on his mind other than the 60 plus miilion people who were watching/listening to him.
Again, I agree with you on all of these points.
Great post and spot on, in my opinion.

Hi Helmet
Indeed!
I'm not a big fan of either one.
For the sake of my beloved democrat friends/family, I sure hope so.
(I would also suspect Obama will be much more prepared next time)
The way the whole thing went down tonight seemed......well.........odd to me.
Peace,

Funny how Obama didn't even mention the 47% or Bain Capital. That's evidence those issues have actually hurt Obama despite the media's pro Obama spin on them.

Re: This debate is driving me nuts.
Take heart Libs. Bush's first debate against Kerry was just as bad. Problem was, no one wanted to vote for someone who's mind was as slow as the ketchup his wife made him eat every night. Romney is different; has too much alacrity to begin with.
