An Apologist Takes On the Articles of Faith

Post by _Bob Loblaw »

Our distinguished guest Roswell D. McArthur has graciously agreed to discuss certain claims made by apostates about the LDS church

We believe in God, the Eternal Father, and in His Son, Jesus Christ, and in the Holy Ghost.

You imply that we are polytheists, which is a blatant lie and one I would expect from bitter anti-Mormons like you.

We believe that men will be punished for their own sins, and not for Adam's transgression.

You are being extremely hypocritical in attacking me for my sins, real or imaginary. I'm sure you and your ilk sit around in darkened corners fantasizing about my alleged sins. Disgusting, but predictable.

We believe that through the Atonement of Christ, all mankind may be saved, by obedience to the laws and ordinances of the Gospel.

If you believe you can engage in the depravity and hatred so common here in the sty and be saved you are sadly mistaken. It never has been and never will be a teaching of the gospel that you just have to do what God asks of you, and you'll be saved. The arrogance and ignorance of such a statement is staggering.

We believe that the first principles and ordinances of the Gospel are: first, Faith in the Lord Jesus Christ; second, Repentance; third, Baptism by immersion for the remission of sins; fourth, Laying on of hands for the gift of the Holy Ghost.

A blatant lie. These are not the only principles of the gospel, as you and your lying mob well know. You sit there and point to a mere four principles and attempt to tell us they are the sole focus of the gospel. Fortunately, even the most ignorant church member will not be fooled by your anti-Mormon deception.

We believe that a man must be called of God, by prophecy, and by the laying on of hands by those who are in authority, to preach the Gospel and administer in the ordinances thereof.

I applaud your valiant effort to paint the church as cult-like and bizarre, as if we believe in bizarre, secret rituals. You know damn well we can't discuss such things in public and yet you continue to peddle this garbage. And the subtle hint of sexuality of "laying on of hands" is so despicably out of bounds I can hardly grasp the mental and moral deficiency of anyone who would imply such a thing.

We believe in the same organization that existed in the Primitive Church, namely, apostles, prophets, pastors, teachers, evangelists, and so forth.

Where on earth did you get the idea that we believe our leaders are infallible? No one need ask for any more proof that you are in collusion with the horrible Ms. Tanner and Mister Decker. Whatever shred of credibility you once had is now gone, but then you post in the trailer park, so what else could one expect?

We believe in the gift of tongues, prophecy, revelation, visions, healing, interpretation of tongues, and so forth.

Nice try to lump us in with holy rollers and snake handlers. It won't work, you moral pygmy.

We believe the Bible to be the word of God as far as it is translated correctly; we also believe the Book of Mormon to be the word of God.

You say that as if we think the Bible is corrupt and deficient. Liar! You know very well that we study the Bible two out of every four years. Stop pretending we hate and denigrate the Bible. Someday you'll have to stand before God and explain why you have so blatantly distorted the truth to support your evil and sinful purposes.

We believe all that God has revealed, all that He does now reveal, and we believe that He will yet reveal many great and important things pertaining to the Kingdom of God.

Clever how you want to trap us into saying that the revelations the prophets have received are incomplete or erroneous. How dare you stand in judgment of the word of God, you preening ego maniac.

We believe in the literal gathering of Israel and in the restoration of the Ten Tribes; that Zion (the New Jerusalem) will be built upon the American continent; that Christ will reign personally upon the earth; and, that the earth will be renewed and receive its paradisiacal glory.

Ridiculous. This is not an American church but a worldwide movement dedicated to bringing people unto Christ. Your pathetic attempt to marginalize us as some insignificant Rocky Mountain cult will not wash. If anything, your slavish devotion to deceit demonstrates a far more cult-like attitude than anyone in the LDS church.

We claim the privilege of worshiping Almighty God according to the dictates of our own conscience, and allow all men the same privilege, let them worship how, where, or what they may.

I am so tired of virulent enemies of the church trying to define its doctrine. You imply that we have no systematic doctrine, which is as great a deception as you have perpetrated in this pathetic list of attacks. We know our doctrines. If you did you would be a faithful member of the church but your pride and inability to grasp even the most basic elements of the gospel has left you wallowing in a cesspool of animosity. I hope you enjoy kicking against the pricks.

We believe in being subject to kings, presidents, rulers, and magistrates, in obeying, honoring, and sustaining the law.

Oh, so now we're one of those megalomaniacal cults that wants to rule the world? How low can you stoop? I've met a lot of spiritual vermin in my life but you are the worst.

We believe in being honest, true, chaste, benevolent, virtuous, and in doing good to all men; indeed, we may say that we follow the admonition of Paul—We believe all things, we hope all things, we have endured many things, and hope to be able to endure all things. If there is anything virtuous, lovely, or of good report or praiseworthy, we seek after these things.

I'm not going to sit back and respect Marquess of Queensbury rules if everyone else is armed with knives and brickbats. How dare you presume to tell me how I should conduct myself! You have systematically engaged in lies and bigoted deception, and you hypocritically attack my behavior? Such spiteful vomitus is hardly worth comment.

You are not fooling anyone, you heartless, evil, dastardly anti-Mormon.

Funny. But scary how well you can channel Pahoran.
