Yep.

But I think for every RM strengthened by the experience, there is another that is estranged by it.

Of course that is a possibility. I'm just looking for a justification outside the need to differentiate that it's a commandment for males to serve and more of an option for females :)

Most that know me here knew of the implied surrounding [sarcasm on] [sarcasm off] blocks.

A week or two back the rumors where that Monson had a revelation that would be revealed at this GC and that it would affect every man, woman and child in the church.

To say the most, I was a bit underwhelmed.

Believe me, I'd like to hear a practical reason for it myself-- it certainly would be a relief for once. I'm just not willing to give the benefit of the doubt considering the church's robust history of blatant and unapologetic sexism.

 How about this: young men in america usually go off to school at 18. By nineteen many have one year of school behind them. Now, after high school they can go off to a mission and when they return, they can start school. Sound good?

 Maybe the sexism is in your own mind. For girls it does make sense to make it at nineteen. This way, if they have a desire they can leave earlier and then when they return at 20 something, they can continue with schooling etc. It is a matter of life enhancement.

No better than it would have sounded 30 years ago. So why the change? Mormon god finally figured that out? Get real.

The world has changed during the last ten years. It is moving along at a quick pace. And the world has commitments that it requires: finishing school faster, finding a job sooner than later, be competitive, be in a hurry etc. Now at 18, young men can go on a mission just after high school and then, prepare for life. It doesn't become a break from life as it did for many 19 year olds who went to college for one year before their mission.

Understand?

You have a firm grasp on the obvious. Women leaving for a mission at a younger age will result in them returning at a younger age.

Here's a new architectural concept for you. Making the building taller will mean its not so short.
"And the human knew the source of life, the woman of him, and she conceived and bore Cain, and said, 'I have procreated a man with Yahweh.'" Gen. 4:1, interior quote translated by D. Bokovoy.

Nope. Just more Mormon BS.
