This is going to go down in American political history as the most pathetic, juvenile public clowning by a major political figure in history. Biden began lying through his continual adolescent smirks as soon as the debate began:

Biden has very probably just lost the election for the One. Between behaving like a patronizing, smug jackass - smirking, laughing, rolling his eyes, and acting like he doesn't understand the difference between a serious debate in front of millions of people and an argument in a bar over rival football teams, his brazen mendacity, and his very obvious lack of substantive knowledge about pretty much every area of policy, economics, history, international geopolitics, the military, military history, and doubtless very much else Biden might care to comment upon, this very likely represents the beginning of the end.

The circus-like atmosphere Biden created in this debate is undeniable evidence that this individual is not fit for any degree of political power in a political and social order such as ours, and the party that placed this comedy relief one step the presidency is utterly bankrupt.

That wasn't a civil debate. That was a joke and an example of the barbarity and lack of civility of a buffoon. I don't know how Ryan managed to stay calm and continue to try to finish his sentences under such a one sided format. How did they even measure the time? Biden interrupted the entire time Ryan was talking. Why even have a debate if those are the rules you are going to follow? Just have a no holds barred ultimate fighting match.

As I said in the OP, Biden acted like he was in a sports bar debating who's team is going to win the Superbowl. This was the most disgraceful debate I've ever witnessed in my entire lifetime watching presidential debates, and yet another indication of the general deterioration of intellectual substance and discourse in American public life.

Gingrich has the right idea: a series of long, drawn out, Lincoln-Douglas type debates without moderation and without making nice being the single overriding basis of the debate format. Venal, shallow politicians, desperate to hold on to their power, and willing to insult the intelligence of tens of millions of Americans to do it, sometimes just need to be told where to go and what to sit on. The stakes are far, far too high at this juncture.

The traditional American media debate format is a travesty and always has been. It allows for no intellectual depth or analysis nor for someone like Ryan to take an intellectual nonentity like Biden to the proverbial cleaners.
