Don't be ridiculous. I like Mormons, and I even like some of what the LDS church does. The only people I dislike who come to its defense are people like you, but that has everything to do with you being an asshole and nothing to do with you being a defender of the church.

(which is why you folks kiss the rings of people like Joanna Brooks and John Dehlin etc.

CFR on my ever kissing their rings. I find Joanna Brooks annoying, as she's projecting a Mormonism that does not exist except in her mind. I don't know much about John Dehlin, but maybe if you dislike him, he might be a decent fellow.

They're in the Church, but not of it; they do not live it, defend it, and support it, and, in fact, they attack it, impugn it, and attempt to subvert it).

Tell me again why I should give a crap about what those two people do or say. CFR on my ever expressing interest in them, other than to point out your creepy stalking of Ms. Brooks.

You belong here, Bob/Bluffalo, down here with the Morlocks, in the darkness, dressed in the filthy rags of your bigotry with the bones of those you have already consumed strewn around you.

You have yet to show any bigotry on my part. I admit it: I'm prejudiced against assholes, particularly those who go out of their way to make themselves look ridiculous.

And you've just exposed your self as a liar and poseur, just like half the population of this board. Keep talking, "Bob."

I said "you folks," not just you.

This is all I require to understand what kind of person you are and where you're coming from. You are a poseur, a liar, and a phoney, "Bob." You're entire personae here is a fraud, and everything you say is suspect. You have no intellectual or moral credibility. You are a hateful, visceral bigot (as virtually each and every post you make testifies), you are a sock puppet, you are disingenuous and tendentious, you are a troll, and you are not fooling anyone (well, you are, but, well, you know...).

You have yet to show any bigotry on my part. I admit it: I'm prejudiced against assholes, particularly those who go out of their way to make themselves look ridiculous.

Your agenda is too transparent for words. You wouldn't be here otherwise.

Oh, noes! Droopy thinks I'm a poseur. Whatever shall I do? Finding you to be a complete ass has nothing to do with liking or disliking Mormons or Mormonism. I like Mormons. The LDS church is not true, but I have no reason to hate it. I can't get worked up about the church one way or the other. So, go on pretending you see through me, whatever that means.

I said "you folks," not just you.

Exactly. You included me, even though I have never shown interest in Brooks or Dehlin, let alone kissed any rings.

This is all I require to understand what kind of person you are and where you're coming from. You are a poseur, a liar, and a phoney, "Bob." Again, I'd have to hate or discriminate against an entire class of people to be a bigot. I don't do anything like that, so all you can do is splutter your feeble denunciations and name calling. For reason I am not concerned about being called a phony, poseur, and liar by someone who is the very definition of poseur, liar, and phony.

Your agenda is too transparent for words. You wouldn't be here otherwise.

Right. I'm here to take down the LDS church, one member at a time, starting with the assholes.

LTP wrote:These suggestions for creating stronger family cultures work in tandem with the culture of the Church. Our strengthened family cultures will be a protection for our children from “the fiery darts of the adversary” (1 Nephi 15:24) embedded in their peer culture, the entertainment and celebrity cultures, the credit and entitlement cultures, and the Internet and media cultures to which they are constantly exposed. Strong family cultures will help our children live in the world and not become “of the world”

Credit and entitlement culture? Bain Capital represents the ultimate "entitlement culture": the executives there thought they were entitled to mountains of cash extracted from the companies they looted and left saddled with debt. Maybe Perry was taking a shot at Mittens here.

Credit and entitlement culture?

Yes, those were the terms used.

Bain Capital represents the ultimate "entitlement culture":

Bain Capital is a venture capital (seed capital) management and investment firm who's specialty is rescuing companies that have been mismanaged and turning them into economically viable, profit making companies. The employees and executives at Bain earn their livings and earn the fees they are paid, in this manner, and by doing this kind of work and providing, in a free, uncoerced market, these services. The thousands of employees who's jobs were saved or created by Bain do not feel as you do about them.

Bain Capital creates wealth. It creates wealth were there was none before. The Welfare state is a net destroyer, eater, and consumer of wealth. It consumes that which exists and replenishes nothing, and its slows and/or prevents the creation of new wealth, especially for the poor who it claims are the objects of its concern.

the executives there thought they were entitled to mountains of cash extracted from the companies they looted and left saddled with debt.

I'm not even going to respond to witless, stupefacted ignorance of this kind. Take your class ressentiment, your class war, you class envy, and your hatred of individual economic freedom to someplace where people like you actually run things and control the economy.

Say, Cuba.

Yes, about that. I fail to see how your quote supports your assertion that LTP is aiming at the left in Mormonism. I'm certain he could have plainly stated it if he had wished to and even named names as examples of how not to act or behave as a member.

He didn't need to. The entire 20th century history of the Church is steeped in these kinds of comments about the welfare state, from the 30s to the present. Only someone unfamiliar with Church doctrine and philosophy could possible miss them, or misinterpret them

The Brethren won't get clearly and overtly political. They never name parties, programs, or initiatives directly.

They don't need to, for the faithful Saints. They know precisely what he's talking about. No sophistry needed or desired, thank you.

Except, of course, when you leech off of it via the welfare system, eh, Droopy?

That is simply not true. Read THE THIN WALL OF HELL. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B008B8H4O8 E. T. Benson was clearly and overtly political. Read his BYU speech given on Dec.10, 1963 entitled, A RACE AGAINST TIME. You will have to get your copy from the special collections section of the BYU library. The Church has not made it available for public consumption.
