Doubt is not a principle of the gospel. It does not come from the Light of Christ or the influence of the Holy Ghost. Doubt is a negative emotion related to fear. It comes from a lack of confidence in one’s self or abilities. It is inconsistent with our divine identity as children of God.
Lets try this again: we all have doubts. Whether we should feed our doubts is the question. He is also implying that doubt can be negative because it can cause us not to embrace change or better prospects because we can doubt our abilities.
You did not say they are incompatible opposites, like LDS leaders say. You said faith and doubt are complimentary.
So Why Me, when you said faith and doubt are like a horse and carriage, you meant that we should kill the horse and pull the carriage ourselves, because the horse of doubt is incompatible with the carriage of faith? That was the real intent of your simile?
Hmm.....I smell a fish.
Incidentally, it would be just as accurate to say that faith and doubt are like a tapir and a sled, right?

We just need to accept that both are apart of the life process when it comes to religion. However, outside of religion doubt can certainly make many people stay in one place or never change.
I intend to lay a foundation that will revolutionize the whole world. Joseph Smith We are “to feed the hungry, to clothe the naked, to provide for the widow, to dry up the tear of the orphan, to comfort the afflicted, whether in this church, or in any other, or in no church at all…” Joseph Smith

That isn't what you said. You said faith and doubt work together like a horse and carriage. That means people need to have both faith and doubt to get anywhere. And that is precisely the opposite of what the LDS Church teaches about faith and doubt. You said they are necessary compliments; the Church says they are incompatible opposites.
Do you have faith that at any time before the Sun goes supernova, there will be a thread in which you don't make an assertion that contradicts LDS teachings and then take several mutually exclusive positions trying to explain your way out of it? Or do you doubt that, like anyone who has encountered you on this board would doubt it?
why me wrote: Faith and doubt go together like a horse and carriage. No big deal there. Without doubt there can be no faith.
Which one's the horse?
Does faith pull doubt or does doubt pull faith?
What do you see as the relationship between the two?
I kind of agree that to have faith some doubt absolutely has to exist. Without that doubt, faith would become fact. The difficulty with that within Mormonism is that the more you study to move your faith closer to fact, it is the doubts that become more factual.
The difficulty Romney has, as a TBM, is that he has a rebellious wife who thinks its okay to not wear garments and to dress (by Mormon standards) immodestly if she is appearing on national tv where she will be observed by millions. That's got to be a cause of concern for the Priesthood holder and he needs to get her back in line before his Bishop has to step in.

"One, two, three...let's go shopping!" Thomas S Monson - Prophet, Seer, Revelator
- Whenever a poet or preacher, chief or wizard spouts gibberish, the human race spends centuries deciphering the message. - Umberto Eco - To assert that the earth revolves around the sun is as erroneous as to claim that Jesus was not born of a virgin. - Cardinal Bellarmine at the trial of Galilei

Romney is a prominent wealthy Mormon. They live by a different set of rules. They don't have to bother with the trivialities of the little people. Their only job is to be Mormon and not embarrass the church.
The church would help Romney dispose of a body and there would be no church discipline. How do you discipline someone who is in the public eye and pays millions in tithing?
Liar. You know full well you are a liar, and that you lie in order to distract from OP's. I have never seen anyone else here make as many false and stupid statements as you and understand why so many have you on ignore.
