Maybe Romney is helping spread the Mormon Jesus message of slavery and servitude.

For much of the earlier part of the film, the officiant just seems to be standing there, while all the words are spoken on a recording. Does that really happen?

Look, the ceremony in the following video is in my eyes just as much a human creation as the other, and its content is, like that of the other, in the minds of the participants rather than 'out there'. But if I had to take part in one or the other on a regular basis, I know which one would be slightly less likely to drive me to the pit of depression:

The ceremony proper starts at about 02:00 if you are impatient. Although the service is in Latin, the congregation knows the main bits of it by heart with its meaning in their native language (French in this case) and in any case they have a bilingual service book to follow if they need to.

And of course there is nothing at all secret in any of this: quite the reverse - they want you to see it in the hope that when you have you may feel moved to think and believe their way.

Yes, it does. The whole thing is pointless and deadly dull, which is why a lot of the patrons go to sleep the second the lights go down for the movie.

I can't even watch it, as I have the damn thing memorized. I think of all the hours I spent on that unproductive activity (can sitting and doing next to nothing be considered an activity?).

Wow lol, don't know why I'm so surprised; this was bound to happen eventually. This is the first time I've seen a full non-dramatized endowment session on the web.

The church's response will be to change a couple little things, and then spread around the response, "That video is inaccurate because it's changed now!" Much like what was done with the penalties.

I'm betting we'll see changes in the next three years that'll make this video no longer technically accurate. We'll have to bring in another video camera then lol.
