A bit of a splash, apparently.
I have more respect for him now. He did the right thing by resigning.

I intend to lay a foundation that will revolutionize the whole world. Joseph Smith We are “to feed the hungry, to clothe the naked, to provide for the widow, to dry up the tear of the orphan, to comfort the afflicted, whether in this church, or in any other, or in no church at all…” Joseph Smith
Personally I think David resigning adds credibility to the Church's side of the story. It makes it appear that there were some grounds for punishment and that David 'jumped' before he was 'pushed'. I understand why he did, but holding on to his membership would leave the ball in the court of the Church (so to speak) forcing them to act or appear impotent. Either way the Church would lose credibility in a very public way.

David did not resign because he was afraid of getting exed. I think he was just tired of it and wanted to move on.

I agree. I think he took the high road. Staying in and waiting for his "day in court" is just allowing the church to maintain some level of authority over him. I wish all those who have left the church over doctrinal/historical issues would resign. That would have a real impact. I understand that there are a lot of people who don't want to resign due to family issues but just image if 10,000s of people resigned all at once...

So much for prophetic Godly insight, inspiration, and revelation from heaven for the chosen leaders of the Lord's anointed and special leaders eh? This is simply astounding......
