I still think this election is Obama's to lose, but if he loses, it will be precisely because he is campaigning as a failed progressive instead of a successful centrist. The GOP has definitely moved to the right and has abandoned the center in large measure, but it was a huge mistake to focus on the Democratic base rather than on the political center.
