Re: A Curious Phone Call from the LDS Church
My wife got the same phone calls about her brother. The timing was strange because she started getting these calls from church headquarters a few weeks after we told our bishop we had decided not to be active anymore.

She laughed.
I assured her I wouldn't give her up.
She said she has people from the church dropping by from time to time to "check up" on her; that she is always nice to them when they do.
But she said her boyfriend isn't usually so nice.

P.S. I agree it is doubtless well-intentioned, but there is something about it that makes me a little uncomfortable.
Certainly does make one say "huh" initially, but I have recieved these calls to, for the same reason of finding members to have them listed in a home ward.
In the end I see nothing sinister in it.

It was a female who did not identify herself beyond saying she is with the missionary department of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and she is trying to track down the location of my 24-year old daughter. (She mentioned her by name; first, middle and last.)
She also did not leave a phone number to return the call; just said she was sorry she did not catch me in and somebody from the missionary department would try later.
My 24-year old daughter lives in a suburb of Salt Lake City.
I live 800-miles away.
She hasn't lived with me for over ten years.
I have never received a phone call like this before.
Thoughts?

Upon returning home from my mission, I was called by the Presiding Bishop (I think I still have the letter somewhere) to be one of these lost member locaters. We were supposed to go in once a week, or whenever we could, to a building in SLC where we made these phone calls. When members move and their former ward clerk does not know where they went (I've also been a ward clerk), they send their records to Salt Lake where member locaters try to track them down by calling their relatives.

A suggestion for your daughter would be name removal.
New name: Boaz
