The Church is not organized by state.
In areas of the Church where there are organized stakes, the stake presidents report directly to a designated member of the Presidency of the Seventy. I don't know which of the Seven Presidents has responsibility for stakes in the northeast.
But, there is a dotted line relationship with the Q12 through visiting Seventy members (who may or may not be in the Presidency). Other members of the Seventy who hang out in the area are merely "staff" members (like a high council), until they have been tasked by the Q12 to reorganize stakes. The Presidency of the Seventy cannot authorize a stake reorg.
When a stake president on a daily basis has a problem, he calls his Presidency member unless the Presidency assigns a ordinary member of the Seventy responsibility to oversee the problem the stake president calls about.
I work with people who know Dolan personally. He is a very good man.
None of which addresses Romney's statement that the Cardinal Archbishop is "New York's highest spiritual authority."
"And the human knew the source of life, the woman of him, and she conceived and bore Cain, and said, 'I have procreated a man with Yahweh.'" Gen. 4:1, interior quote translated by D. Bokovoy.

I was responding to the OP. I realize it was a set-up to smack down "faithful" members about Romney, but not all of us are Romney supporters. Again, I like Cardinal Dolan and think he is a very long shot to become Pope.
Again, I am not a gay basher. I bash gays and heteros indiscriminately.

How did gay bashing get introduced into this thread?

Umm. By me?
Here's a clue bot: When a Gay poster writes a post, and neither the post nor the thread has anything to do with being Lesbian or Gay, it is inappropriate to randomly throw in a Gay tag line.
If you do this sort of thing at work in CA, you could get yourself and your employer in a lot of trouble. If you don't believe me, just check with the cracker jack employment lawyers and professional ethics lawyers at your fine firm.

I don't follow this board closely enough to know whether you are gay or not gay. You're not a regular poster I follow. I made the comment I did because I seem to recall in one of my last exchanges with you that you accused me of gay bashing. As you do now, apparently.
I bash indiscriminately. If a poster is going to make a big deal of his or her sexuality, I consider that vulgar. But, you have my apologies for bringing it up.

Remember that the next time you introduce someone to your (presumably female) wife.
And apology accepted.
