This is a particular favorite of mine as I've seen it in person. The Brooklyn Museum holds the entirety of Tissot's illustration of the Life of Christ. There was a gorgeous show of them a few years ago.
From the Ernest L. Wilkinson Diaries: "ELW dreams he's spattered w/ grease. Hundreds steal his greasy pants."
Oh for shame, how the mortals put the blame on us gods, for they say evils come from us, but it is they, rather, who by their own recklessness win sorrow beyond what is given... Zeus (1178 BC)
If you ever come to Brooklyn, I can call ahead and request a private viewing of some of these. I bet we could get a look at some Blake, too, if we made arrangements far enough in advance and I invented a plausible enough scholarly need. (I've still yet to have Blake's The Red Dragon shown to me. I have to do that before I leave Brooklyn.)

Doing The Last Supper, it should be required to add Salvador Dali’s The Sacrament of the Last Supper. This depiction doesn't do it justice. Maybe the best Dali, ever.

Omg, Blixa - what a treat that would be!

Never seen this one before. Thank you!

Still my favorite Dali.
Being a Christian is not the result of an ethical choice or a lofty idea, but the encounter with an event, a person, which gives life a new horizon and a decisive direction -Pope Benedict XVI

This:
reminds me of a prayer contemplation: "Imagining Jesus sitting or standing by me, I speak out my feelings, as one trusted friend to another"
