Re: Metal Music and the Loss of Faith
Huh. During my whateveryouwannacallit I stopped listening to all secular music. I would only listen to hymns, deseret book type stuff and christian music.
I still hate heavy metal.
Oh, and now I'm pagan.
WHAT DOES IT ALL MEAN?!?!?!

If it's a band as good as Shinedown or Godsmack, it's as if we all see the lead singer (Brent Smith or Sully Erna) transform into Joseph Smith before our very eyes. The singer looks like Joseph, he sounds like Joseph, and his mannerisms are like Joseph. (Well, thankfully, not!)

I love a metal concert. It's a good time. I don't consider it to be devil worship. I think of it as fire breathing dragon worship, because fire breathing dragons are just as real as the devil.

You will find those of us who have followed metal to Satan on the wild side.

I don't like metal - and never watched or listen that so called music.
(Sometimes I was forced - one can not close the ears - so I know what is all about.)
Am I True Believer then?

Are y'all Puritans?
I went through a long NIN phase, until a friend pointed out it was despairing. Which, is probably why I liked it. But then I went through a phase where I was anti-despair.
I still like some metal, as long as it hopeful and not despairing.

Mormons. It's almost the same thing, though.

No, I am not.madeleine wrote:Are y'all Puritans?
Here is one of my favourite musics - and its background:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CvezKgSIJiM
... and in a more modern - someway caricaturistic - version:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1aq2hem5DJ4
The last minutes of those musics are pure metal - I think it was in 1859.
I watched it first when I was 5 yo. You can say I was indoctrinated.
Warning!!!
The videos are not compatible with Mormon dress code (no ballets are, by the way).
Don't answer if You (all) didn't watch the whole video - at least the first one!
