DCP closing his blog yesterday

Post by _Markk »

I believe I was that last one to post on the thread before he closed it...close as I can remember what I wrote is :

Daniel,
"aren't you a public figure, suing scratch would be like me seeing you for your implying I was a member of the KKK, is still get bigot calls because of that occasionally. Have fun with it Dan it is free publicity anyways, Burt Reynolds would love to have such. We are big boys and it comes with the game. If it bothers you that much then ask scratch to stop it if he doesn't then he is the idiot. Anyways the folks that listen to Scratch are about 20 or 30 folks that won't buy your books or add anything to your empire anyways...and they are no more than a bunch of idiots just like you and me...or Non."

Life is too short have fun with it Dan

Markkk:)

Daniel replied something like...

" I called you Markk, Markkkk, Markkkkkk...before I called you Markkk, I just thought it funny that the many K's were on your name. I never implied you were a member of the KKK, why would I do that?

but you are right in that suing scratch might not go anywhere (then he said something to do with lible and slander being a sue-able offense for public figures)"

I had written a response and tried to post it and it was shut down, I don't know if my response made it or not, some of the above may have been in the response, but I think I got it right.

by the way he is not being honest with me at all about the KKK thing, I have a way of getting under his skin and he got butt hurt and blew it ( if I remeber correctly the post was on Blacks and the priesthood, I printed it out and have it somewhere I need to look). I like the guy and could care less what he called me, I am not a bigot anymore in that I let that part of my life go when I understood Blacks are not "unworthy", so he can call anything he likes...but he should have just apologised, I would have said no need to and it would have been over...now he has to lie forever about it, just like when he told me 21 years ago Muslims were Christians (in defense of me saying the LDS faith was not a Christian faith) and he denies that also...but I wish that kind of thing on no one...these type of things have a way of snow balling until they explode and shape a negative character...maybe this is what happened at the MI? Pride always before the fall.

I'm still trying to figure out what it was that I did that set him off. As I noted on the other thread, it seems like he was incensed over my speculations about his remuneration for editing the Review. Look: if he didn't make $20,000, then he didn't make $20,000. Perhaps it was closer to $10,000, or $8,000. Who knows? Why on earth would he feel the desire to sue merely because someone is making such speculations?

And you're right, Mark: if he were to simply ask nicely, in a decent and humane sort of way, I would have been glad to drop the discussion.

Seems to me Mr. Peterson doesn't mind serving God and mammon, and get very pharisaic about it when questioned.

The new entry is interesting. It seems that there have been a few complaints about his blog.

I thought this was kind of funny. To whom is here referring here?

Daniel Peterson wrote:A few simply consider me a slime ball. One, who dislikes me personally and despises my views on various topics, has repeatedly told me that it’s his “dream” to get me altogether removed from Patheos.

Dream? LOL.

Well, if you are one of those folks who have been "dreaming" of Daniel Peterson's exodus from Patheos, just follow his advice:

Daniel Peterson wrote:People who don’t like my approach are completely free to complain to the management of Patheos and/or to forego reading my blog. If they can do so, they’re welcome to get me altogether booted from Patheos. (A few, I know, would like that very much.)

Who knows? He might even thank you later.

The difficulty for DCP is that we are the '20 or 30 people' who's attention he wants. Being noticed by 'us' is what gives him his self value. He gets no satisfaction or pleasure from people agreeing with him or siding with him. He wants the drama, the victimisation and the notoriety that this brings. Without it, he is just another member with a blog...

Slime ball? Not my opinion of him.

Obsessive compulsive? Yes.

Ability to restrain himself when discretion would suggest it? No.

Ability to muster even a modicum of objectivity on anything Mormon? No. (Let's not forget 'Metcalfe is a Butthead' was printed under DCP's editorial reign.)

Egotistical and narcissistic? Certainly.

Overly sensitive and easily provoked? Yes.

Slime ball? No.

It is his usual passive-aggressive tactic. He knows that almost no one has called him a slime ball. But he regularly makes out his opposition to be unfair in order to elicit sympathy and for strategic advantage. He succeeds at getting people to feel badly for him, and that reward keeps him employing the same tactic.

The only thing I can say is "Time/Lightbox."

If I was pressed to say anything further it would be, "Text and Context."

Are the "Time/Lightbox" comments still up? I heard a rumor that the Mopologists were contriving to have them taken down.
