He is not the editor of MI anymore. MI, which is associated with BYU, has a major readership among Church members and scholars.

His current site is not as high profile. It is simply his little corner of the Internet. Is he not allowed to have that? Apparently, according to Scratch, only if he wants to put up with his continual harrassment.

He's allowed whatever he wants.

But he is still employed by BYU and if he continues his polemic approach, his ad hominem attacks and his false claims of victim status, past behavior being a predictor of future behavior, I'm quite sure others will call him on it in ways they think most effective. Little corner of the cyberspace or not.

To me, this just seems like unnecessary gloating, and the rehashing of old issues.

Liz,

You're defending a man who just outed someone's in real life identity on his vendetta-blog, based on a hunch by a crackpot that it was Dr. Scratch, and he was wrong. This is the kind of man who you claim is being harassed, but has no issues to demand a public denial from an innocent in order to stop himself from publicly harassing said innocent. Additionally, instead of owning his actions like a Saint, and sincerely and publicly apologizing he offers up a s****y mea culpa coupled with another veiled threat, and then ultimately deletes his two posts hoping they'll just go away.

As long as he continues this kind of nonsense, and publicly represents himself as a Mormon, a BYU employee, and a representative of Jesus Christ I think he's fair game to be exposed.

Hi Liz,

You seem to be missing out on the fact that DCP has decided to throw his lot into raising an alternative to his MI editorial duties, from which he was relieved. He has done so publicly, declaring it from the pulpit, so to speak.

Are you suggesting that it isn't DCP's desire for Mormon Interpreter (or whatever it's called) to operate in the style that the FARMS review decided was not in its best interest, and therefore caused his removal as editor?

Are you suggesting DCP doesn't want his new venture to compete with and be bigger than the FARMS review?

IMHO:
DCP wants to be a victim.
He will do anything to receive negative attention.
It's where he gets his self worth.

This isn't a very good haiku, Drifting. I'm sure you can do better.

I have wondered, at times, where DCP's wife is in all this. I have no interest in his personal life to be clear, but a spouse may be able to take inventory of a situation more handily than the individual directly involved.

Many of us have long recognized Dans unfruitful presence on the web. Surely his better half has asked him to leave his cause on cyberspace.....maybe the donuts tell him something different?

I just want to go on the record as being the reporter that broke the story of DCP and Ed Snow's fundraising junkets, including the one to Southern California approximately three years ago where he tried to squeeze more money out of my Liohana-level step-dad.

That was when I first witnessed DCP brazenly lie about something so obviously verifiable. The sting of that surprise has disappeared over the years, as it has been repeated countless times since, but like many firsts, I'll never forget the first time I saw DCP deny being paid to do apologetics (or Mopologetics).
