Yeah I have read the popular mechanics article before and still don 't buy it. There are other articles written by other engineers and scientist who state otherwise.

The emergency services on the ground had been worried about the potential collapse of building 7 for most of the day and became so concerned of its imminent downfall (the building started bulging) that the site was evacuated of all personnel from (If I recall correctly) around 2pm.
It's not a massive leap to speculate that a BBC source at the scene reported "an imminent collapse", yet the studio heard "collapsed". Given the chaos of that particular day I think that may be the most reasonable explanation.
But let's not turn this into a 9/11 thread - Prickky, why not start another thread in "off topic" so we can play around with it for a bit?
