Here's the thing- he's not going to sue anybody.

Guy doesn't care about money, he lives for his life's work. Who's going to trust someone who responds to anonymous internet critics with fruitless attempts at legal action? Even if he presses charges and gets national attention for it, what happens to his credibility if he loses the suit (most likely scenario)?

What it was designed to do was 1) vent and 2) intimidate critics, which to his credit worked very well. It's pretty obvious it struck a nerve.

I think you're exactly right, Harold Lee. That's why I posted my call-out thread about this. It's (the allegations) nothing but an effort to silence criticism of one's cherished beliefs.

The fact that so many Mormon apologists imagine this vast secret combination at work only speaks to their paranoia, persecution complex, and vindictiveness---not to objective reality.

DCP wanted to vent? Check.
It struck a nerve among critics? Check.
It intimidated critics? I don't think so. I think it has emboldened critics, and DCP pulling down the outing post and the correction post was his retreat. The fact he made the correction post reveals that he did not have then planned taking the outing post down. When posting the correction did not diffuse the situation that, for DCP was quickly getting out of hand, DCP had to go a step further and take them both down.

His design in making the outing post may have been to intimidate critics. It did not work well at all, for DCP that is.

In regards to his ill-advised accusation against Chino Blanco, I have ZERO sympathy for him. The man is a scholar and so he ought to know better than to make unsubstantiated allegations of this kind in public without doing the due diligence research to corroborate the theory first. Then, when he is caught having made the big blunder, he is generally unrepentant about it.

I sympathize with Dr. Peterson in much of what he has had to endure this year (particularly the loss of his brother), even though some of it (the MI stuff) was self-inflicted. This, however, elicits no sympathy from me.
